Chapter 327

We all stand in the hallway for what feels like an eternity. The silence is heavy, broken only by the hum of the hospital’s medical wards. Finally, the handle clicks, and the lead doctor walks out of the room, closing the door softly behind him.

Everyone instantly tenses up, stepping forward and surrounding the doctor in a circle. I take a step toward him, holding my breath.

“How is Lyra?” I ask, my voice raw. “Is she okay? Tell me she’s okay.”

The doctor looks up at me with a deeply grim expression as if he’s waiting to drop bad news. The look alone makes a cold spike of fear

squeeze my heart. The doctor lets out a long, heavy sigh and looks at the others before focusing entirely on me.

“Your Highness, please,” the doctor says quietly. “Only you may come in, for now.”

I stare at the doctor, then turn to look at the rest of the group. Nick looks like he wants to protest, his jaw clenched, but I don’t give him

the chance. “I’ll be back,” I tell them shortly.

I turn around, push the door open, and walk into the private room.

The moment my eyes land on the bed, a wave of shock paralyses my limbs. I stare at Lyra, completely frozen.

She is totally blue. Her pale skin has turned an icy shade of blue, as if her entire body has just been dragged out from the depths of a freezer. I step closer, my breath catching as I see the signs of frost clinging to the edges of her lips and on the tips of her fingers.

An intense mixture of anger and terror explodes in my chest. I spin on the doctor, my claws extracting out as I growl.

“I know it is incredibly hard to see her like this,” the doctor says quickly, standing in front of me to block my path. “But she is still alive, Your Highness. Her heart is beating.”

“Then why the fuck does she look like she’s been stuck in an iceberg for a hundred years?!” I yell angrily, my voice booming within the

small room.

The doctor doesn’t flinch at my anger, nor does he look scared by my furious red eyes. He remains completely calm, adjusting his glasses.

“Lyra is physically stable for now, but she is indeed stuck,” the doctor begins to explain. “Apparently, she’s stuck inside her own mind. Based on what the elements the Helios machine is showing us, her fox’s spirit is trying to break through the fog of her lost memories. In doing so, the force is violently trying to split her mind into two separate pieces. That is exactly why she is stuck in this frozen, dreamlike state. She is freezing because her fox is probably freezing in whatever dark world she’s currently trapped in, deep within Lyra’s own subconscious mind.”

I freeze in total shock as the words echo in my head repeatedly. Lyra is trapped inside her own head. Her fox is freezing to death in a mental cage. How the fuck did this happen?

A small feeling of relief washes over me, and I force Vlad back down. “Thanks,” I mutter roughly. I look back at Lyra’s frozen face. “So,

how can we help her? How can we force her to wake up from this?”

The doctor lets out a sigh, looking down at his clipboard, his expression turning deeply troubled.

“Tell me!” I demand, my anger flaring up again from pure desperation. “Please.”
