Chapter 52
He raises his hand. On his signal, the doors at the far end of the hall creak open. Two figures walk into the room.
The moment they walk forward towards us, the atmosphere shifts immediately. The air turns freezingly cold, dropping several degrees in a second. Every Lycan at the table stiffens. I can hear the rapid, shallow breathing of any aunts and uncles as they struggle with hiding their fear.
My heart skips as the realization hits me. I know these creatures. These are the guests my father invited?
The one species we avoid like a plague.
They are the demon–vampires, known as Monpires.
They are blood–sucking demons that have infested the dark corners of our world for centuries. They are mindless predators who eat humans for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They are the negative part of everything we are.
What the fuck are they doing in our palace? What the hell has my father gotten himself into?
I don’t wait for permission. I speedily rise from my chair, causing the wood to scrap loudly against the floor.

“Father! Why are they here?” I yell, pointing at the two pale figures. “They are our enemy! You brought monsters into our home!”
My father glares at me. His expression doesn’t shift. “Sit down, Kai. Give me a chance to explain the reason behind their presence.”
“Explain what? They’re parasites!” I try to argue, my blood boiling.
My father’s eyes suddenly bleed into a deep, glowing red as he glares at me. I feel the crushing weight of his King’s Command. It’s a raw Lycan power designed to force submission. He is trying to push me back into my seat with his power.
We stare at each other for a long, tense moment. My father knows I am stronger than him. He knows I can break his command if I really want to. But I see the desperate hunger for control in his eyes and decide not to cause a scene that might end in a bloodbath.
I sit back down, my jaw clenched so tight
My father continues as if nothing

The two figures reach the head of the table and lower their hoods. Their skin is the color of milk, and their eyes
two Princes of the Monpire clan,” my father says. “Sin and Sloth.”
They stand beside him like statues. I can feel the disgusting coldness radiating off them, hitting my skin in waves.
“I recently reached an agreement with their kind,” my father explains, pacing behind his chair. “We have found a way to strengthen our species. They will infect our kind with their blood through a controlled bite. We will become Lycan–hybrids. We will have the strength and speed of a wall, combined with the immortality and dark magic of a Monpire.”
Everyone at the table gasps in shock. Even my mother looks shocked, her perfect mask finally slipping. My father has done many stupid, cruel things in the name of power, but this is beyond my understanding. This is madness.
I stand up again. “No one will want to be a test subject for this, father. No one is going to let a Monpire infect them willingly.

Chapter 52.
My father smiles at me in that taunting way that I hate so much. “We will start the trials on regular wolves. If the hybrid transformation works, we will runtinue with us, the Lycans.”
“And if it doesn’t?” I snap. “If the wo dies in agony, what then?”
My father turns his gaze toward me. He looks entirely too pleased with himself.
“That is why we will start with the slaves, he says smoothly. Specifically, the ones who have committed grave crimes. They are expendable lives.”
What the fuck does he mean?
He pauses, his smile widening into something wicked.
“Perhaps we will start with your slave, Kai. The Diamond girl from the Valeria pack. She will be the first one bittere.”
