That the fuck did I tell you would happen the next time you flirt with him?” Kai’s voice is thunderous. It vibrates in my very bones. Before I can even step back, his hand shoots out and grips my upper arm. He squeezes so hard that I wince in pain, a small cry escaping
I look up at him and my breath ceases. The forest green in his eyes is gone. They are almost entirely black now, swallowed by a predatory fury that I have never seen before. It isn’t just anger, it’s a dark, suffocating energy that makes the air around us feel heavy. I try to drag my arm out of his grip, twisting my body to get free, but he stands as stiff as iron. He doesn’t move.
“Let me go, Kai! You’re hurting me!” I scream at him.
“Answer me!” he yells. The sound is so loud it makes my ears ring.
Tears start to spill down my cheeks as I stare at him, completely shocked. He looks so far gone that I’m not even sure he even sees me as
a person right now. The air around us is thick with his Lycan smell–sharp, metallic, and dangerous.
“What the hell is wrong with you, Kai? Let her go!”
Roman’s voice cracks through the tension from behind us. He is back on his feet, though he’s leaning against the wall. His face is pale,
but his eyes are fixed on Kai’s hand on my arm.
Kai slowly turns his head to look at Roman. The expression on his face shifts into something even more deadly. It’s a look of pure,
unadulterated hatred.
He looks like he is about to end his cousin’s life right here in front of everyone. Before I can even blink, the pressure on my arm disappears. Kai breezes off me with terrifying speed. One second he is standing next to me, and the next, he is on Roman.
I gasp, my hands flying to my mouth as I watch Kai lift Roman off the ground by his throat. Kai lets out this deep, guttural growl that’s so primal and loud, I swear the ground beneath me even seems to tremble.
I look around frantically. A few guests from the Floating Glass House stop to watch what’s happening. They look horrified. Some whisper to each other, while others start backing away toward the exits.
My heart sinks into my stomach. I knew this was a mistake. I shouldn’t have taken a chance. I shouldn’t have gone out with Roman. I should have stayed in the shadows where it was safe. Now, look at what is happening. Two princes are about to tear each other apart because of me. Well, one Prince is sure to be torn apart by the other.
Roman struggles, his hands grabbing at Kai’s wrist as he tries to catch his breath. Even though he’s almost out of air, he refuses to give
“She’s mine!” Kai screams in his face. “She belongs to me! You will never look at her again. Do you understand me? Never!”

Chapter 57
Bomben lets out a dry, raspy laugh, his eyes boldly meeting Kai’s dark stare.. “Unlike you… I actually like her, Kat. I see her as a whole
wat just some property for you to own and break.”
The words are like gasuline on a fire. Kai’s face twists with rage, and he pulls his fist back to land a huge punch on Roman’s jaw. The sound of the hit is sickening. Roman is sent flying backward, his body sliding across the grass for a few feet until he hits a decorative pillai He doesn’t get up. He’s passed out.
“Roman!” I scream in shock.
I start to run toward him, hoping and praying to the goddess that he’s not dead. I need to see if he’s breathing. I need to help him.
But I don’t even take five steps before Kai is right there again. He wraps a strong arm around my waist and pulls me back against his
chest. I collide with his hard body, the heat coming off him almost burning me.
I struggle against him, kicking my legs and trying to scratch his arms with my fingernails. “Let me fucking go! You lunatic! You’ve killed him! You probably broke his neck!”
“He’s a Lycan,” Kai says, his voice low and bored. He doesn’t even seem to feel my attempts to hurt him. “He can take more than a few
hits. He’ll live.”
