Chapter 58
“You’re a monster!” I sob, still fighting him.
“If you don’t shut the fuck up right now, I will go over there and break every other bone in his body,” Kai threatens.
I freeze. I stare at him, my eyes wide with fear and disbelief. I can see on his face that he isn’t joking. He would do it. He would dismantle his own family just to prove a point.
“How can you do this?” I whisper, my voice shaking. “He is your family. Your blood.”
“I warned him,” Kai snaps. “I told him to stay away. He chose to chase what belongs to me.”
“How does it even affect you?” I scream, my frustration finally boiling over. “Why do you care? You hate me! You call me a useless slave! Why can’t you let me be with someone who actually treats me like a person?”
Kai yanks me even closer, his grip tightening until I can barely move. He leans down, his face so close to mine that I can feel his hot
breath on my lips. For a second, I think he might kiss me, or bite me.
“Shut the fuck up and come with me. Now. This is the last time I’m telling you.”
I don’t listen. Fear makes me desperate. I wait for his grip to loosen just a bit, then I twist and try to run toward the parking area. I only
make it two steps.
Kai growls as he reaches out and grabs me. Before I can even process what’s happening, everything flips upside down as I’m lifted into the air and thrown over his shoulder like a sack of grain. My head hangs upside down against his back, my silver hair brushing near his waist.
“Put me down!” I yell, hitting his back with my fists. “People are watching, Kai! You’re making a scene! Put me down!”
“I don’t fucking care who’s watching,” he growls back.
He doesn’t even flinch when I hit him. My blows are nothing to him. He walks with purpose, his long strides carrying us away from the Glass House and an unconscious Prince on the ground. I keep squirming and trying to slide away, but he just holds me tighter, his hand gripping firmly onto the back of my thighs to keep me in place.
He reaches his bike. This is not the kind of power bike Roman had. This is a heavy, dark machine that looks as scary as he does. He doesn’t set me down gently. He keeps me pinned against his side as he preps the bike, his eyes still dark and full of a possessive fire that
terrifies me to my core.
I look back toward the Glass House one last time, hoping Roman wakes up, but all I see is Kai’s shadow over me, wider and darker than anything I’ve ever known.
The moment we arrive at the academy grounds, Kai doesn’t even give me a chance to step off the bike myself. Before I can find my footing, he reaches out and lifts me back onto his shoulder like I weigh nothing at all.

Chapter 58-
squeal in shock, my hands flying back to cover my bottom. This dress is way too short for this kind of treatment, and we’re back at the academy. I can see students hanging around near the dorms, and I know they’re watching this mad scene.
Kai, put me down! Everyone is looking! I hiss, my face flushed with a mix of rage and humiliation.
Instead of answering, Kai slaps my hand away from where I’m covering myself. I yelp as he replaces my hand with his own, his large palm
spreading across my bottom to hold me in place. A strange, hot heat washes through my body at the contact, making me feel lightheaded
in a way that has nothing to do with being upside down.
“What the hell are you doing?” I scream, my voice muffled against his back. I ball my hands into fists and hit his shoulder blades as hard
as I can. “Get your fucking hands off me!”
Suddenly, Kai slaps my ass. The sound is so loud in the quiet night that I gasp, my entire body going stiff. My heart stops for a beat.
Did he just… did he really just do that?
