Chapter 78
Lyra
I struggle against Salva, clawing my fingers at his forearm as I try to move his hand from my throat. “Let me go!” I choke out, but the words are barely a whisper. He squeezes tighter, his knuckles turning white. It feels like be’s trying to crush my windpipe.
Fuck, I can’t breathe. My lungs are burning, and the room starts to darken as oxygen stops reaching my brain.
Salva’s breath is hot and wet against my ear, his spit hitting my neck as he snarls. “Do you have any idea what you did to me?” he hisses. Since that day in the arena, I can’t even walk out of my dorm. Everyone is mocking me. Pitying me. My own pack members dropped me because they think I’m weak. All because a wolfless bitch got lucky.”
“Salva, stop!” I try to yell, but he slams my head down onto the porcelain sink with so much force that stars explode behind my eyes.
“I’m sorry!” I manage to gasp out, my voice trembling. “It was just a game… I didn’t mean to-”
“Shut your mouth!” he roars, cutting me off with a brutal punch to my jaw. My head snaps to the side, and the metallic taste of blood fills my mouth. Before I can recover, he slams me onto the cold floor. I hit the ground hard, the air leaving my lungs in a wheeze.
Then, I feel his hands on me. He starts tearing at my clothes, the sound of ripping fabric filling up the small room. Fresh terror immediately grips me. I try to curl into a ball to protect myself as my heart races with fear. “What are you doing? Let me go! Please!”
He lets out an evil laugh that makes my skin crawl. “I’m going to take back what you stole from me,” he says, his eyes dark and blown out with rage. T’ll
start by fucking that tight asshole of yours until you can’t walk anymore. By the time I’m done, you won’t even remember your own name.”
No. No. Not. A cold, paralyzing dread washes over me, sharper than any physical pain he’s caused so far. I would rather die, I would honestly rather be dead
than let him violate me like this.
‘Move, Lyra!’ Wyndra’s voice screams in my head. ‘Fight him!”
I gather every single bit of strength left in my body and strike. I swing my fist with everything I have and catch him right in the temple. He topples over with a pained groan, his grip on my waist loosening just enough.
I don’t waste a second as I scramble to my feet, my heart filling with the hope of escape. Im just about to rush for the door when I feel something sharp stab into my knee. I scream loudly and fall back onto the floor. I look down, my eyes wide with horror.
Salva just stabbed me with a sharp piece of hawthorn, a poisonous vine.
“No! My voice breaks as I scream. I immediately feel the poison hit my bloodstream. It’s like ice water flowing through my veins. My muscles turn to lead. and my vision begins to fade. In a few seconds, I’ll pass out. In a few minutes, the poison will stop my heart. I can feel Wyndra’s pain inside me, too. Her own energy is also fading as the poison affects our connection.
Goddess, please save me.
I try to crawl away, scratching my fingernails uselessly against the tiles, but Salva is already back on top of me. He pins me down, trapping me with his heavy body. I’m too weak to push him off. The moment I feel his hardness poking into my back, hot tears finally blur my eyes. This can’t be happening. Not
like this.
I’m passing out. The world is turning gray at the edges. Even though I know he probably doesn’t want to see me right now, even though he’s been avoiding me for days, I close my eyes and think of Kai. I whisper his name in my mind, a desperate, silent plea, as if my thoughts could magically pull him into this

Kai… please…
I try to fight against Salva one last trag, but my arms won’t move. I’m about to give up, ready for the darkness to take me before he can touch me again.
But then, the air in the room suddenly changes. The pressure of Salva’s weight disappears in a heartbeat. I hear a sickening track as Salva is thrown across the room, smashing into the stone wall beside me, right before everything goes dark.
