Chapter 77
The table goes completely silent. Hook up and realize that all three girls are staring at me with expressions of pure confusion. Amara raises her eyebrow suspiciously, her sandwich forgotten on hef plate.
“Who exactly are you talking to, miss?” she asks,
I feel my face getting hot. I can’t tell them about Wyndra. Not yet They already think I’m weird for being wolfless. If I tell them I have a voice in my head that claims to be a ghost wolf, they’ll think I’ve finally lost my mind.
“Huh? I didn’t say anything.” I say, trying to play dumb. I take a big bite of pasta to avoid speaking.
Isolde grins, her face covered in a bit of pink sugar from her cotton candy. “Oh, I know what that was. You’re probably talking to yourself about Kai, aren’t you? You’re having a little mental argument about the Prince.”
“Not this again!” I groan, but this time I make sure it’s directed at them.
Amara and Isolde start teasing me relentlessly. They start making up silly scenarios about me and Kai, saying things that are so ridiculous and over-the-top that I eventually can’t help it. I start to laugh. Their energy is infectious, and for a second, I forget about the King, the kiss, and the person I kissed.

I turn to Erika as I notice that she isn’t laughing. She isn’t even smiling. She’s just staring down at her pasta, moving it around her bowl with her fork. She looks like she’s a million miles away.
“Erika?” I ask, leaning toward her. “Are you alright?”
She snaps her head up, her eyes sharp and cold. “Why wouldn’t I be?” she asks, her voice sounding tight.
The laughter at the table dies down instantly. I let out a small sigh, feeling the tension return. I don’t know what’s going on with her, but I hope she tells
me tonight.
“Never mind,” I say softly. We all go back to eating, the silence at the table feeling a lot heavier than it did before.
After lunch, we head to the training grounds for our third period. The final activity for the day is warrior training, which is basically like a human gym session but dialed up to a sadistic level. Our instructor is an Alpha from one of the strongest territories and a feared general. He’s notorious for being incredibly tough, and today, he seems determined to break us.
myket, We’ve been running for over forty minutes now, not on a track, but on a trail of sharpened stones. The sharp points dig into my feet, and every step feels like torture. All around me, people are groaning and looking like they’re ready to collapse. Even Amara and Isolde, who are usually pretty tough, are complaining under their breath that this is way too much for level-one wolves.
‘Don’t you dare stop,’ Wyndra’s voice echoes in my head. Pain is just a feeling, Lyra. Push through it.’
I grit my teeth and keep my pace steady. I’m not going to be the one to give up. I focus on my breathing, and somehow, I can feel a small burst of energy from Wyndra flowing into my limbs. It’s just enough to keep my legs moving when they want to give out.
By the time we finish a set of a hundred pull-ups, my muscles are screaming and my shirt is soaked with sweat. The General finally barks out that we can take a short break. I don’t even wait to talk to the girls, I immediately run to the nearest restroom. My bladder is killing me, and I desperately need a minute away from the sun.
When I get inside the restroom, I’m relieved to find it’s completely empty. I quickly ease myself, finally feeling some relief. Once I’m done, I walk over to the basin and splash cold water on my face. It feels amazing on my hot skin.

Chapter 77-
I stap! there for a moment, staring at my reflection in the mirror. I notice how much my body is changing. All the intense workouts and Academy activities are finally paying off. My curves are sharpening, my waist is looking leaner than ever, and even my face has lost some of its softness. My jawline is more angular now, giving me a fiercer, wolf-like look that i never thought I’d have. I can’t help bure smile at myself. For a second, I actually feel excited about the
woman I’m becoming.
Suddenly, a dark figure appears in the reflection behind me.
Before I can even gasp or turn around, a huge hand grabs the back of my neck in a death grip. The force is sa violent that my head lunges forward, smashing
into the mirror with a terrible crack. Shards of glass fly everywhere, and my vision goes blurry from the impact.
I try to scream, but a heavy palm claps over my mouth, stifling the sound into a muffled whimper. Through the stars dancing in my eyes, I look up at the
broker pieces of the mirror.
Salva Delvin is staring back at me.
His face is twisted into a harsh, hateful sneer. He looks different than he did in the arena. He looks crazy and desperate. He leans in close to my ear, disgusting breath hitting my face.
his
“Did you think I’d let a wolfless bitch get away with that?” he hisses, his grip tightening until I can barely breathe. “I’m going to make you regret every second of that humiliation. By the time I’m done, you’ll wish you stayed dead on that arena floor.”

Paralyzing fear grips my soul as I realize that I’m trapped.
