The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 81

I shudder just saying it out loud. What a weird dream.

Kai’s expression changes instantly. The softness vanishes, replaced by a look of such intense murderous fury that I almost flinch. His eyes flash a brilliant, dangerous gold, and I swear I can hear his beast growling from deep in his chest.

“No one is taking you,” his grip on my waist tightens. “No one else will ever touch you, Lyra. Not while I’m breathing. I promise you. They’ll die before they get close to you.”

He looks at me. The air between us suddenly feels heavy, charged with a strange, magnetic energy. My gaze drops to his lips, remembering the kiss we shared from two days ago, and I can tell he’s thinking about it too. The anger in his eyes shifts into something hungrier, something that makes my stomach flutter a little. For a second, the rest of the world disappears. There’s just the feeling of his hands on me and the way he’s looking at me like I’m the only thing that matters.

The door swings open, shattering the silence like a gunshot. We both jump and pull apart a little as a man in a white coat steps in. He’s tall and good- looking, with soft brown eyes and a gentle smile that immediately makes the room feel a little less tense.

“Good to see you’re awake, Lyra Diamond,” he says in a calm voice. He checks a clipboard at the end of my bed. “I’m Doctor Andre. I’ve been looking after you since the Prince brought you in. I hope you don’t feel any effects from the poison anymore?”

“The poison?” I ask, my voice sounding a bit stronger.

Andre nods, stepping closer to check my vitals. “Hawthorn is nasty business, especially for someone… in your position.”

He means I’m wolfless. Ugh.

“But thankfully, we were able to withdraw the toxin just in time. You’re going to be weak for a few days, but you’ll recover.”

A few days? That won’t do. I try to swing my legs to the other side of the bed. “I have to get to class. I’ve probably missed too much already.”

“Absolutely not,” Kai says in a tone that leaves no room for argument.

“He’s right, Lyra,” Kara adds, stepping forward and placing a hand on my shoulder. “You almost died. You’re staying right here until the doctor says you’re

100%.”

“But I have my assessment in-” I start, but Kai cuts me off with a sharp look.

“I’ll handle the assessments. You aren’t going anywhere.”

I sigh, leaning back against the pillows. They’re right though, my body aches, especially my knee where Salva stabbed me is throbbing with a heavy ache. I hate being stuck here, but I know I have no choice.

A nurse knocks on the door and pokes her head in.

“Excuse me, but there are some visitors here for Miss Diamond. They said they’re her friends. Their names are Amara, Isolde, and Erika. They re waiting outside. Including,” she pauses, glancing nervously at Kai, “Your cousin, your highness. Prince Roman also said he’d like to see Lyra.”

The change in Kai is instantaneous. One second he was sitting on the edge of my bed, and the next, his face is pinched with icy rage. His shoulders go rigid. and the temperature in the room practically drops ten degrees.

Chapter 81

The stands up slowly, his fists clenching at his sides. He doesn’t look at the nurse, he looks toward the door

The softness from a moment ago is appletely gone, replaced by the harsh Prince I know.

Shit. I don’t want another round of drama happening between them because of me.
