The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 99

Chapter 99

Lyra

Kai and I stare at each other in a silence so thick it feels like the air has been sucked out of the basement. The room suddenly feels too small and it feels

Nike the stone walls are pressing in on us.

I can’t believe I just did that. I actually slapped the Crown Prince

Back home, I was never the violent type. All the years I was mistreated, picked on, and shoved around by almost everyone in the pack, I never once thought to fight back or raise my hand against anyone. I was the girl who stayed quiet and took the hits. I don’t understand how Kai manages to drive me to a point where I don’t even recognize myself anymore. I hate him for this. I hate that he brings out a version of me that is just as twisted and angry as he is.

I glare at him, raising my chin high even though my hand is still stinging from the impact. He continues to stare at me in mild shock, as if he’s waiting for

me to tell him it was a joke.

He slowly raises his hand and touches his cheek where my palm landed, as if he’s checking to see if I actually left a mark. Then, he shakes his head and lets

out a low, dark chuckle that sends a shiver down

my spine.

“Did you just slap me?” he asks, his voice dangerously quiet.

“I did,” I snap, my voice trembling but firm. “And I’ll do it agai

not yours to mistreat!”

again if

you

don’t stop talking to me in such a degrad

  1. I am not a slut, Kai. And I am

The tension between us is electric. He’s standing so close that I can feel the heat radiating off his body, mingling with the cold dampness of the room.

Kai suddenly throws his head back and laughs out loud as if I just really cracked a funny joke

“How foolish I was,” he says, looking at me with pure disdain. “To actually think you were the one for me. To think you were special. The Moon Goddess definitely wasn’t thinking right.”

I feel like he’s just drenched me in ice water. “What the hell do you mean?” I ask, my heart skipping a beat.

He stares at me silently for a while before smiling wickedly.

“I actually thought you were my mate, Lyra,” he says, “I was going to tell you tonight. I was going to choose you over my betrothed. But now I know better. My mate could never be a pathetic, desperate, and slutty girl like you. Never.”

His cruel words cut me deeper than I expected. Inside my mind, 1 feel Wyndra let out a feral growl. She’s getting annoyed. I feel her power stirring under my skin. My eyes start to burn with that strange heat, the urge for them to turn white and unleash all my bottled-up anger on him is almost uncontrollable.
