The Mad Princess and the Dying Prince novel Chapter 127

Princess Corinna had absolutely no memory of the event.

Aurelia Beaumont walked over and tugged at Lucia's arm. "Lucia, what are you causing a scene for? The princess doesn't even know you, and you couldn't possibly have met her before. How could she have taken anything of yours?"

"Indeed, Lucia. What could our family possibly possess that would catch the princess's eye? Has your mind grown muddled because your head was struck by that thug?"

Zella Beaumont hurried over as well.

She needed to seize this opportunity to show off in front of Princess Corinna.

Princess Corinna looked at Lucia's head and laughed behind her hand, her tone dripping with malice. "Struck in the head? I heard such blows can turn a person into a half-wit. Lucia Beaumont, have you become a fool?"

Several noble ladies nearby chimed in with mocking laughter. "It's entirely possible."

"Fool, come here. Bark like a hound a few times, and I'll reward you with a treat." One of the ladies picked up a mock-meatball with her silverware and tossed it onto the grass. "Here, eat it."

To actually claim Princess Corinna owed her something—if that wasn't a fool, what was? She was clearly suffering from delusions!

What kind of standing did House Beaumont have to make a princess owe them anything?

Recalling how Lucia had physically attacked Lady Marguerite's maid earlier, they were even more convinced she was mad. What sane person would dare?

Princess Corinna laughed so hard she trembled. She raised her foot and kicked the mock-meatball right to Lucia's feet. "This is a delicacy made by the royal kitchens. Lady Jocelyn said it's your reward, aren't you thrilled? Crawl down and eat it, fool."

Zella's pupils shrank.

Why had the situation taken such an abrupt turn? Why were they calling Lucia a fool? Although her previous comment was intended to steer things in that direction, she hadn't expected these women to instantly brand Lucia a madwoman.

Gwyneth, who had already taken a seat, stood up and glared at Jocelyn Linden. "Jocelyn, you are being far too cruel!"

Jocelyn Linden had always been the most obedient lapdog by Princess Corinna's side, which was why she instantly committed such an insulting act.

"Gwyneth, I suggest you open your eyes. What, do you intend to go against the princess?" Jocelyn cast a disdainful, sidelong glance at Gwyneth. "Your father is nothing but a minor baron. You should be counting your blessings that the princess even lets you sit here!"
