The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 113

Jocelyn followed Adrian as they rushed to the room where the incident occurred.

When she saw Claire's condition, Jocelyn froze in shock.

Claire had been beaten unconscious.

She had been left lying on the freezing floor in nothing but a thin gown for God knows how long. Without any heating in the storage room, Claire's lips were an alarming shade of blue.

But what was even more shocking was her face. Both of her cheeks were violently swollen and bright red.

Jocelyn distinctly remembered slapping Claire, but she had only hit her once, and only one side of her face had been red.

And she had merely locked Claire in the room. She hadn't laid another finger on her. How had it escalated to this?

Jocelyn was also certain of one thing.

Claire wasn't nearly ruthless enough to beat herself half to death just to frame Jocelyn.

Claire threw herself into Adrian's arms, sobbing so hard she could barely catch her breath.

Although Adrian frequently scolded his sister, deep down, he was fiercely protective of her.

At that moment, fury hardened every line of his face.

The manager of Aurelia hurried over, turning pale at the sight.

Since the assault happened on hotel property, the establishment would undoubtedly be held liable. The manager immediately ordered security to pull the surveillance footage.

But to everyone's shock, the security footage from the time Claire and Jocelyn clashed to when Claire was assaulted had completely vanished.

Someone had hacked the hotel's network and erased the specific timeframe.

The cameras themselves hadn't been tampered with or broken.

Jocelyn began to piece the puzzle together in her mind.

From a technical standpoint, a highly skilled hacker had bypassed the hotel's security wall and scrubbed the footage clean.

But who?

If this person wanted to frame her, they wouldn't have deleted the footage of her dragging Claire into the room and locking the door.

Jocelyn was completely baffled.

"It was you! You did this!"

"Claire, don't say crazy things," Adrian said. "Your sister-in-law has been with me this whole time. How could she have hurt you?"

"It was her!" Claire screamed, her voice cracking with hatred. "She's the one who locked me in that room! Sure, maybe she was with you later, but that doesn't mean she didn't hire someone to beat me!"

Adrian froze for a few seconds.

"What did you say?"

The swelling on her face did nothing to muffle Claire's shrieking.

"She hit me first! After she slapped me, she dragged me into that room and locked the door! I begged her to let me out, but she just left! And then someone came in, knocked me out, and beat my face in!"

Adrian looked at Jocelyn in disbelief. "Claire, this isn't a joke. Stop spouting nonsense."

Claire pointed a shaking finger at Jocelyn's face.

"Do you dare tell the truth?! You act so high and mighty all the time! Someone like you wouldn't stoop to lying right now, would you!"
