The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 121

Eleanor watched the scene unfold, a cold, venomous hatred flashing in her eyes.

Michelle stepped forward, wanting to help Audrey up, but Eleanor stopped her.

There would be plenty of time to settle the score with Jocelyn later!

Audrey was already on her knees, but she had no intention of prostrating herself or groveling for forgiveness.

She had deliberately stepped forward to say those things, calculating that the entire Lowell family would see how sweet and understanding she was compared to Jocelyn.

By contrast, Jocelyn would look incredibly arrogant and unreasonable.

It would only make them hate Jocelyn more.

This vicious woman had actually snatched away the necklace Adrian had bought for her. It was absolutely despicable!

But Audrey hadn't expected Jocelyn to actually demand she get on her knees.

It was a complete humiliation.

Yet, to achieve her ultimate goal, Audrey was willing to risk it all.

But as for actually bowing her head to the floor...

Jocelyn cast a half-smile at the woman on the ground, her eyes filled with undisguised mockery and sarcasm.

She wanted to see exactly how far Audrey was willing to take this little performance.

"What are you waiting for? You've already done half the act. Wouldn't it be a shame to give up halfway?"

Audrey's fingernails dug painfully into her own palms, and her shoulders began to tremble slightly.

A single tear dropped onto the floor.

That single tear was the final straw, effectively alienating Jocelyn from Eleanor and Michelle once and for all.

Their eyes were filled with nothing but heartbreak for Audrey.

But they also knew that if Audrey didn't apologize properly, this issue wasn't going to go away today.

So, they forced themselves to swallow their sympathy.

Audrey looked up, her eyes brimming with tears as she gazed pitifully at Adrian.

That single look was all it took for Adrian to reach his breaking point.

He grabbed Audrey's arm, pulling her up from the floor, and glared fiercely at Jocelyn.

"Jocelyn! That's enough! Don't push me!"

Jocelyn met his sharp, threatening gaze without an ounce of fear.

"Exactly who is pushing whom?"

Furious, Adrian let his most vicious words slip right out.

"If you want to remain a Lowell, you’d better learn your place and rein it in! Otherwise, get the hell out of my house!"

"So, you're divorcing me?" Her eyes locked dead onto Adrian's. "For her?"

Suddenly, Adrian couldn't quite meet her gaze, his eyes darting to the side.

But his anger hadn't faded.

"I'm reminding you to know when to stop. Don't treat the Lowell family like your personal stage to throw a tantrum!"

Jocelyn took a deep breath, forcing her emotions to settle.

She offered a faint, desolate smile.

"Adrian, don't regret this."

With that, she turned on her heel and walked away.

In seconds, she disappeared into the dark night.

Adrian took two quick steps forward, a sudden urge to chase after her gripping his chest.

Eleanor immediately blocked his path, shooting a pointed look at Audrey.

Audrey's body swayed as if she were about to collapse.

"Adrian, I'm so dizzy."

Adrian muttered a low curse, turning back to catch Audrey before she fell.
