Ethan stood frozen for a long moment before abruptly slapping his own cheek.
He wasn't dreaming...
His boss had a crush on Miss Evans?
Oh my god!
This was even more explosive than finding out she was the legendary hacker Storm!
Ethan was smart, and he quickly pieced the timeline together.
"Sir, did you fall for her after finding out she was Storm?"
"Yes."
"Then why didn't you pursue her back then?"
"Because I lacked confidence."
"What!" Ethan was utterly floored. "Did I hear that right? You lacked confidence? You're a star everyone looks up to. How could you not be confident?"
"Do you think she's just anyone?" Julian asked.
Ethan scratched his head. "True. Miss Evans is pretty incredible herself."
Julian let out a faint sigh, a trace of regret for the past flickering in his eyes.
"By the time I rebuilt my confidence, I found out she already had someone she liked."
"You mean Adrian Lowell?" Ethan asked.
"Yes."
Ethan sighed heavily along with him.
"Sir, this is entirely your fault. How could someone as invincible as you drop the ball when it came to Miss Evans? If you had just made a move back then, she might be Mrs. Vance right now."
Mrs. Vance...
Julian suddenly zoned out.
Years ago, he had definitely daydreamed about that title.
Ethan hesitated for a while before speaking again.
"So, your feelings for Miss Evans now are... and besides... she's already married to Adrian."
"Even if!" Ethan's voice lost a bit of steam. "Even if they got a divorce, it's highly unlikely between you two. Don't forget, you already have a fiancée..."
Julian smiled.
"I won't need to. She'll figure it out on her own very soon."
Ethan opened his mouth to ask why, but then it clicked.
He almost forgot she was an elite hacker. And brilliantly sharp.
If his boss could hack into the hotel's security system and wipe the data, she could just as easily recover it.
Ethan sighed.
They really were a match made in heaven.
What a shame.
Timing, circumstance, and fate—they didn't have a single one on their side.
Meanwhile, Jocelyn had returned to The Astoria.
Maria was actually in the middle of unpacking boxes.
Jocelyn quickly rushed over.
"Maria, what are you doing? Your arm isn't fully healed yet. Why aren't you resting?"
"It's not a serious illness, just a broken bone," Maria replied cheerfully. "Besides, I still have my other arm! I'm not used to just lying around in bed all day, so I found something to keep myself busy."
