The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 143

The baby instantly shrieked in pain.

The baby nurse ran back into the room, terrified.

Right behind her were Eleanor and Michelle, and walking in with them was...

Caleb Preston.

It turned out Eleanor and Michelle really had been on their way home.

But they had run into Caleb, who was coming to visit his grandson, in the lobby.

Eleanor had decided to bring him back up to the suite.

And what did they walk into? Their precious heir screaming his lungs out.

Eleanor's heart shattered. She turned on the nurse and roared, "What the hell are we paying you for?! Why is he crying like this?!"

The nurse glanced at Audrey, trapped. "Grandma Lowell, it wasn't me, it was..."

Audrey dramatically dropped to her knees.

Eleanor gasped. "Audrey, what on earth are you doing?!"

"Grandma, I made the baby cry. Please don't blame the nurse."

Audrey clutched her chest, looking like she was in excruciating physical pain.

"Grandma, I am so, so sorry. I know I hurt your precious great-grandson, but I was out of options! I'm going crazy!"

Caleb rushed forward to pull his daughter up, his face tight with concern.

Audrey resisted, refusing to stand.

"Dad, please, let me finish!"

Caleb shot a venomous glare at Jocelyn and slowly lowered his hands.

"Grandma! I really can't take it anymore. Please let me take Leo and move out. If I have to stay in Adrian's house any longer, I'm going to lose my mind."

Eleanor was completely bewildered.

"Audrey, what are you talking about?! And why would you make Leo cry?"

Audrey sobbed, "I didn't want to! I was forced to!"

Eleanor seemed to put the pieces together. She shot a hateful glare at Jocelyn.

"Get up, sweetheart. Tell Grandma exactly what happened. No matter who is bullying you, I will make them pay."

Audrey began to speak between pathetic sobs.

"Jocelyn is so angry with me. Behind closed doors, she constantly calls Leo a bastard. She says he doesn't have a drop of Lowell blood in him. She uses it to torment me all the time."

"When I walked in just now, I caught her about to use this needle on Leo! She looked so vicious, it terrified me. Thank God I stopped her in time, or who knows what she would have done to my son!"

"But I refuse to let my son's name be dragged through the mud any longer. So, I took his blood myself. Now we can take it and get a proper DNA test!"

Eleanor exploded.

"DNA test?! I know exactly whose blood runs in my great-grandson's veins!"

"Jocelyn! You just can't stand seeing Audrey happy, so you're making up these disgusting lies, aren't you?!"

Michelle immediately jumped in to back her up.

"Exactly! Mom, we simply cannot let this kind of person stay in the Lowell family anymore. She's going to ruin us!"

Caleb Preston finally spoke up, his voice dark and threatening.

"Mrs. Lowell. I come here in a good mood to visit my daughter, only to find this absolute circus. Is this how the Lowell family treats my little girl?!"

"My daughter sacrificed her chance at a new marriage for your family. She suffered through a ten-month pregnancy to give your family an heir. And instead of thanking her, you allow her to be humiliated and bullied like this?!"
