The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 188

The windows were rolled up tight, and the SUV was rocking rhythmically.

The soundproofing was top-notch; even though things were clearly intense inside, not a single sound leaked out into the quiet garage.

Jocelyn's first instinct was to walk away. She had absolutely no desire to witness something so utterly disgusting.

But after taking a few steps, a wicked smile curled on her lips. She wasn't about to miss out on ruining this.

She walked right up to the SUV and rapped her knuckles hard against the glass.

The rocking stopped instantly. It took a few moments for the back window to roll down—they obviously needed a second to adjust their clothes.

But by the time the glass lowered, Jocelyn had already vanished behind a concrete pillar.

Audrey's hair was a mess, her blouse unbuttoned halfway down her chest. She squirmed restlessly, deeply irritated by the interruption. Her voice was thick with lust. "Adrian, you must have imagined it. No one knocked."

The window rolled back up.

Adrian's sanity was slowly returning. What the hell was wrong with him today? Why was he so out of control?

He grabbed her wandering hands. "Audrey, wait... your body isn't fully recovered yet..."

Audrey ignored him entirely and ducked her head down.

Adrian sucked in a sharp breath. An overwhelming wave of pleasure hit him, obliterating whatever shred of self-control he had left.

The freezing temperature of the parking garage did nothing to cool the blazing heat inside the car.

After retrieving her necklace, Jocelyn drove straight to the hospital to visit Marcus.

His recovery was going remarkably well, which filled Jocelyn with profound gratitude. She couldn't even fathom the kind of soul-crushing grief she would experience if her father actually died.

When she walked into the room, Jeremy was alone, lounging on the couch with one leg thrown over the armrest, glued to a game on his phone. It seemed Diana was still holding a grudge and hadn't been visiting much.

The second Jeremy saw her, he started complaining. "Well, look who finally showed up! Where the hell have you been the last two days? You left me stuck here playing nurse!"

Jocelyn walked right up and kicked his leg off the armrest. "Don't use that tone with me!"

Like mother, like son.

Marcus gently scolded him. "Jeremy, learn a thing or two from your sister. Stop acting like a slacker. If I drop dead tomorrow, what are you going to do?"

Jeremy stretched and groaned. "Dad, I'm exhausted. I'm gonna go home and crash."

"Go ahead," Marcus said softly.

Marcus nodded in understanding. "You're right. Better not to drag someone else into this mess."

"Dad," Jocelyn squeezed his hand tight. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner."

Marcus smiled tenderly. "Silly girl. You don't have to tell me anything you don't want to. Whatever you decide, I support you 100%."

"So you're okay with me keeping the baby?"

"Of course I am! As long as my daughter is happy, that's all that matters."

"Dad." Jocelyn leaned her head gently against his arm. "Thank you."

"Thank you for being the only source of warmth in my freezing world."

Marcus cherished the moment, holding onto her hand for a long time. "There's something else," Jocelyn added softly. "Adrian and I signed the divorce papers. We'll go to the courthouse to make it official in a few days."

Marcus didn't look surprised at all. "Good. As long as..."

He suddenly remembered something critical. "Jocelyn, whatever you do, do not tell your mother about the divorce yet."

"I know," Jocelyn nodded.
