Jocelyn shook her head.
"I already texted her. She said she has a team meeting right now and will come find me later."
Julian nodded. "That works."
As they passed the secretary's desk, Julian stopped.
"Bring in a cup of hot milk and some pastries. Make sure the pastries aren't too high in sugar."
The secretary immediately stood up, her gaze landing on Jocelyn.
Elegant, classy, and absolutely gorgeous.
That was the secretary's first impression of Jocelyn.
A woman's intuition told her that Mr. Vance treated this woman very differently from the rest.
"Right away, Mr. Vance. I'll get it ready," she said.
Julian pushed open the door to his office.
Jocelyn walked in and took a quick look around.
Compared to the lavish offices of other corporate billionaires, this room was fairly understated.
But it was incredibly clean and tasteful.
Still, having a private office like this in The Meridian Tower right in the heart of downtown Northwood City was a flex of wealth that ordinary money couldn't buy.
Just as Jocelyn was about to sit down, Julian handed her a throw pillow.
"Put this behind your back. It'll be more comfortable."
His attention to detail was touchingly sweet.
The secretary quickly returned with the food and drinks.
In addition to what Julian had asked for, there was also a small plate of red dates.
Except, they didn't look like regular dates.
"This is a specialty from my hometown," the secretary explained. "They’re honey-glazed jujubes stuffed with sweet rice and macadamia nuts. You looked a bit pale, so I thought this would be a nice pick-me-up. I brought some for you to try."
Jocelyn smiled warmly.
"What's your name?"
The secretary answered respectfully.
"You're not the same as her," Julian said.
Jocelyn didn't read too much into it.
"How am I any different? I'm going to be your employee soon, too."
The man's dark eyes flickered. His lips moved slightly, but he didn't say anything.
Jocelyn picked up one of the stuffed dates and took a bite.
It was soft, sweet, and delicious. She couldn't resist eating two more.
When she was done, she grabbed a wet wipe and cleaned her fingers.
"I actually came today because I need a favor."
Julian glanced at a tiny crumb near the corner of her mouth. His voice was gentle.
"Tell me."
Jocelyn took a breath. "I want you to help me find a good divorce lawyer."
"I'm ready to file for divorce."
