The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 214

Adrian didn't seem to care much.

He had never doubted Audrey in the first place.

So, he just gave a noncommittal "Mm."

Eleanor ordered a maid to bring over the file folder from the coffee table.

The seal was already broken.

Eleanor pulled out the document.

"Since Audrey is here, I want you to take a good hard look at this. See for yourself if Leo is your son or not. Maybe this will stop you from acting out and demanding ridiculous paternity tests."

Adrian opened the file.

The results were printed in bold black and white: Probability of Paternity is 99.99999%.

It meant Leo Lowell was, without a shadow of a doubt, Adrian's biological son.

Adrian gave it a single glance and tossed it aside.

Eleanor pressed, "You've seen it with your own eyes now. Let's see if you ever dare to doubt Audrey again!"

Adrian tried to explain patiently.

"I already said..."

"Adrian," Audrey said softly, cutting him off. "I don't blame you. Bloodlines are important. And with Jocelyn constantly throwing tantrums, I understand you felt forced into doing the test."

Adrian patted her head.

"You're the only one who understands me."

Audrey smiled and leaned into him.

"Of course I do. Grandma, please don't be so hard on Adrian. It hurts me to see you scold him."

Eleanor chuckled and looked at Michelle. "Look at this. She isn't even Adrian's wife yet, and she's already so protective of him. What's it going to be like later? I guess we won't be allowed to say a single bad word about Adrian, or Audrey will get upset with us."

Audrey feigned embarrassment. "Grandma, what do you mean 'wife'? Honestly..."

She cast a deeply affectionate look at Adrian.

"Adrian's going to get mad at you in a minute."

Adrian forced a stiff smile.

"I won't."

Eleanor sighed contentedly. "This is how it should be. This is what a real family looks like. With that woman out of the picture, the Lowell household can finally have some peace."

Adrian bit back the words he wanted to say.

A nameless anger was simmering inside him, begging to be let out.

They were explicitly insulting her, but it felt like they were cursing him.

Adrian ate the rest of his meal without tasting a thing.

After putting down his utensils, he went to his room to see Leo.

He heard footsteps behind him but didn't turn around.

He knew Audrey would follow him in.

Ever since they had rekindled their physical intimacy, Audrey had practically started treating Adrian like her husband.

Once inside, she wrapped her arms around him from behind, pressing her body tightly against his back.

"Adrian, is something bothering you?"

Adrian glanced at the baby nurse.

The nurse quickly picked up the baby and left the room.

Adrian pried Audrey's hands away and turned to face her.

"There's something I want to ask you."

Audrey immediately wrapped her arms around his waist again. "Hmm? What is it?"

Suddenly, Adrian felt a wave of repulsion toward her clinginess.
