Another text from Ethan came through.
[Probably because we poached a few of his core tech guys last time, Adrian has been headhunting everywhere lately. And he hasn't given up looking for 'Storm'. Sir, if this keeps up, it's only a matter of time before he figures out Miss Evans is Storm.]
Julian: [Let him look. It's time he found out who his wife really is.]
Ethan: [If Adrian ever finds out Miss Evans's true identity, he'll regret everything.]
Julian got out of bed, tiptoed out of the room, and quietly shut the door behind him.
He woke up his phone again and scrolled to a number he hadn't contacted in a long time.
When the call connected, a lazy voice dragged through the speaker.
"Calling at this ungodly hour makes me feel like I'm dealing with a ghost. Julian, how long has it been since you checked in?"
Julian kept his voice low.
"I need you to handle something for me."
The other man laughed. "Ha, I know you don't call just to chat. Tell me, what is it?"
Julian: "Look into Crestwood Wellness Center. I need to know if they've received any massive private wire transfers over the past year."
The man sounded surprised.
"Aren't you in Northwood? Why the sudden interest in a nursing home out in Crestwood?"
Julian: "I'll explain later. Just look into it for me. As fast as possible."
"Alright, I'll check it out tomorrow when I wake up."
"No, do it now."
The other man chuckled helplessly.
"Looks like you're really in a rush. Fine, sir, I'm getting out of bed to check it for you right now."
When Jocelyn woke up, it was only a little past six in the morning.
She rolled over and found herself face-to-face with Julian, who was still asleep.
Jocelyn's eyes lingered on his face for several seconds.
When she finally snapped out of it, she quickly turned away.
Her phone suddenly chimed with a text.
Jocelyn immediately switched it to silent.
Ever since Marcus passed away, she had developed a deep-seated anxiety.
She never dared to turn her phone off at night again.
Sarah: [Are you okay?]
