The director stiffened, her expression turning sorrowful.
"I'm sorry."
Jocelyn's mind was in total chaos.
Diana! It was Diana all along!
How did she find out her mother was here?
And where had she taken her...
Was her mother still alive...?
Jocelyn didn't dare think about it any further.
Right in front of the director, Jocelyn dialed Diana's number.
"Diana, what did you do to my mom!"
Hearing that, Diana wasn't surprised at all. Instead, she sounded completely nonchalant.
"I didn't expect you to figure it out this quickly. Don't worry, your mother is alive and kicking. She's not dead yet."
Jocelyn swallowed hard, forcing her racing heart to calm down.
"Where is she!"
Diana: "If you want answers, come to The Crestview Residence."
Jocelyn gritted her teeth. "Fine!"
The car tore down the highway, not stopping once for a break.
But it wasn't Jocelyn driving; it was Julian.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Jocelyn couldn't calm her racing thoughts.
Her mother was still alive.
She was really alive.
Thank God.
Julian spoke up. "Diana doing this means she's using your mother as leverage. She wants to negotiate terms with you."
Jocelyn already knew that before getting into the car, but suddenly, a terrifying realization sent chills down her spine.
"Julian, I just remembered something."
Julian kept his eyes glued to the road. "What is it?"
"Something Adrian said to me when he came to see me the other day."
"Yeah?"
"He said, 'Maybe my father was triggered by something after returning to his room, and that's why he had the stroke!'"
Jocelyn's mind was finally clearing up.
"My father's death hit me so hard at the time, all my energy was consumed by the unbearable grief. I completely dismissed what Adrian said."
