The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 230

Diana wasn't even angry.

"I'll just consider it raising an ingrate. It's better if you don't call me that anyway—it'll save you the trouble of playing the emotional card during this little chat of ours."

Jocelyn had zero patience for small talk.

"I'm not going to beat around the bush. Let's just put all our cards on the table."

Diana crossed her legs. "Perfect. That's exactly what I wanted."

Jocelyn sat down on the sofa across from her.

"If I'm right, you found out about Dad's will."

A vicious look flashed across Diana's face.

"I never imagined that my own husband would turn his back on his family. Even in death, he wouldn't let me off the hook. He actually left the vast majority of the estate to you."

"I was originally planning on seeing you in court, but look at that—it must be God's will. Haha."

Diana burst into triumphant laughter.

"For me to discover that your mother is actually alive!"

"Marcus was an ungrateful snake! Did he completely forget how my family propped him up when he was starting his business? And he dared to betray me like this!"

Jocelyn was utterly disgusted.

"I've heard you use that excuse a million times. Yes, your family helped out when Dad was first starting, but isn't this massive empire the result of my father's blood, sweat, and tears?"

"Dad paid back the little bit of help your family gave him a long time ago. Yet you used it to guilt-trip him for his entire life. Diana, you aren't just greedy, you're despicable."

Diana exploded. "You don't know shit! Without my family, Marcus Evans would have been nothing!"

"And what did he do? He hid your mother behind my back for over twenty years!"

"He forged her death certificate and played me for a fool for two decades!"

"Thank God I found out, or I would have spent the rest of my life in the dark!"

Capitalizing on Diana's blind rage, Jocelyn pressed her.

"So my father's death wasn't because of what Adrian said. It was because after he went back to his room, you got into a massive fight with him over the will, right?"

"Yes!"

The room instantly plunged into dead silence.

Diana realized what she'd just admitted and flew into a rage.
