As he started to get up, Jocelyn inwardly sneered and rubbed her eyes.
Damn it. All that fake crying was making her eyes sting.
Adrian thought she was crying again and sat back down.
"You were put in a difficult position today, having to give up your room for Audrey. Don't worry, once she's done with her postpartum recovery, I'll have her move in with Grandma and Mom."
"Like I give a damn", Jocelyn thought.
Out loud, she said, "You know I was wronged and feeling awful, yet you still came in here and accused me without even asking. Do I mean that little to you?"
"Adrian, I'm your wife."
Seeing her looking so pitiful, Adrian found he couldn't bring himself to leave.
"Alright, stay here. I'll stay with you tonight."
Jocelyn shook her head. "You should go check on Audrey. I'll be fine."
Adrian said, "You were right just now. You're my wife. I shouldn't keep ignoring you."
His words sounded so hollow, it was hard to tell if he meant them.
Jocelyn was momentarily stunned.
"Jo," Adrian's gaze softened, a satisfied smile playing on his lips. "You seem to have changed a lot in the last couple of days."
Jocelyn asked, "How have I changed?"
Adrian said, "You've become more obedient. More generous."
Jocelyn gave a relaxed smile. "Because I've come to terms with it. What's done is done, and nothing can change it. And after Leo was born, everyone in the Lowell family seems so much happier. I'm happy for you all, too."
Something about her words didn't sit right with Adrian.
"What do you mean, 'you all'? Aren't you a part of the Lowell family?"
Jocelyn fake-smiled and said nothing.
That was a first. Adrian Lowell actually saying she was part of the Lowell family.
Before this, no one in the Lowell family had ever treated her like one of their own.
When they had something to discuss, they always excluded her, closing the door for fear she might overhear.
Jocelyn had never even set foot inside Adrian's company.
"Go back to your room. You're still recovering. You can't catch a chill."
"I'm fine." Audrey looked so fragile and pitiful.
"Adrian, I know Jocelyn didn't put that picture there on purpose. So please, don't fight with her, okay?"
Adrian said, "We're not fighting. Your sister-in-law just explained it to me. It really wasn't on purpose."
Audrey paused, her gaze falling on Jocelyn with a hint of resentment.
"I..." Audrey swayed slightly.
Adrian quickly caught her. "Are you okay?"
Audrey shook her head weakly.
"I'm fine. Just a little dizzy all of a sudden."
Adrian said, "Then you should go back and rest."
Audrey bit her lip, hesitating.
"I..."
