The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 257

If she hadn't agreed to this stupid dinner, she wouldn't have had to listen to his nauseating speech or deal with this disgusting assault.

She fought back with everything she had, thrashing wildly against his frantic grip.

She tried to scream, but he used his weight to muffle her.

A dark thought flashed through her mind—she wanted to take him down with her.

But then she remembered she was pregnant.

In a moment of pure desperation, she clamped her teeth down hard on his ear.

Adrian hissed in agonizing pain.

But before he could even curse at her, a hand clamped down on the back of his neck like a vice. With a violent yank, he was ripped completely out of the car and thrown onto the pavement.

The second Jocelyn saw Liam standing there, the terrified tension in her fists instantly evaporated.

Before Adrian could even find his footing, Liam drove a vicious kick into his side.

"Your whole damn family is a genetic disaster! You're a bunch of psychotic freaks, every single one of you! Not a decent human being among you!"

Adrian, completely unused to being humiliated like this, turned purple with rage.

"Liam! Don't think for a second that just because you're some hotshot investor, I'm going to take this disrespect! I've played nice and given you face until now, but you're pushing your luck!"

Liam cracked his knuckles, looking more than ready for a brawl.

"I don't need your damn respect. You want to go right now, tough guy? Let's go."

Adrian glared at him murderously. "You think I'm scared of you?"

"Liam."

Jocelyn hastily straightened her clothes and climbed out of the car.

Liam immediately stepped in front of her, shielding her with his body.

"It's okay, I've got you. Stand back. I don't want this piece of trash getting blood on your clothes."

She grabbed his arm, pulling him back.

"Let it go. Just take me home. I'm exhausted."

Seeing how pale and drained she looked, Liam swallowed his rage.

A violent, possessive jealousy erupted in Adrian's chest.

"Jocelyn! Open your eyes and look at the guy you're defending!"

He pointed an accusing finger at Liam.

"He's a notorious player! He changes girlfriends faster than he changes clothes. He'll play the knight in shining armor today, and throw you out like garbage tomorrow."

"Are you seriously stupid enough to get involved with trash like him?"

Before Jocelyn could respond, Liam slung an arm casually around her shoulders, flashing a devastating, cocky grin.

"I might be a player, but I'm dead serious about our Jo."

Adrian sneered, turning his venom back on Jocelyn.

"Don't forget, once this divorce goes through, you're nothing but a worthless divorcee with no money and no status. Who do you honestly think is ever going to marry you?"

"That's easy..."

"I will," Liam interrupted effortlessly.
