The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 258

Jocelyn looked at Liam, caught somewhere between wanting to laugh and wanting to cry.

The guy really had no filter when it came to backing her up.

Liam pulled her a little closer into his side.

"Mr. Lowell, they always said you were legally blind, and I guess they were right."

"Who told you Jo is worthless? You think she's just some pretty trophy wife?"

The smirk on Liam's face was dripping with pure condescension.

"Let me tell you something, Adrian. Someday, you're going to realize that the woman you threw away was a priceless, one-of-a-kind gem. And when that day comes, you'll be the one crawling back on your knees, begging her for a second chance."

Adrian scoffed, entirely unconvinced.

"I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder."

Liam clicked his tongue. "We'll see about that."

Adrian glared at the arm draped comfortably over Jocelyn's shoulder, the sight making his blood boil.

"Do I need to remind you, Mr. Bancroft, that the woman you're holding is still my wife?!"

Liam mockingly leaned even closer to Jocelyn.

"You've already signed the divorce papers, and you're still trying to pull rank? Besides, when did you ever actually treat Jo like a wife?"

"If you had, she wouldn't be fighting tooth and nail to walk away empty-handed just to escape you."

Adrian's gaze snapped to Jocelyn, full of bitter resentment.

"Empty-handed? She's still trying to steal the Evans Group from me! She blackmailed me into handing over the company shares!"

Liam blinked in surprise, leaning down to whisper to Jocelyn.

"Well look at you, keeping secrets from me again?"

"I had no choice," she murmured back. "Diana sold the shares to him. I had to do whatever it took to protect my father's legacy."

Liam snapped his fingers.

"Makes perfect sense. When you're dealing with a snake, you have to play dirty. Can't blame Jo for that. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for being a scumbag."

Adrian was so angry he practically had steam coming out of his ears.

"Fine! You want the shares? Where's the money?!"

That hit right at Jocelyn's weak point.
