"But if you can't come up with the money, the deal is dead forever. I won't sell it to you no matter how much you offer me."
Three days?
Jocelyn knew Adrian was purposely trying to back her into a corner.
"She doesn't need three days. Tomorrow."
Liam's voice cut through the tension.
"You can bring the contracts tomorrow, and we'll sign them."
Jocelyn whipped her head around to stare at Liam.
This wasn't a game.
Liam just gave her a charming, easy wink.
"President Evans, what do you say to me coming on board as a major investor?"
She was so completely caught off guard she couldn't even speak.
"You know me, my favorite hobby is throwing money at good investments. The Evans Group hit a rough patch, sure, but the long-term potential is massive. Why would I pass up a gold mine like that?"
Jocelyn was still reeling.
"Are you... being serious?"
For a rare moment, the playful glint in Liam's eyes vanished, replaced by absolute sincerity.
"Dead serious. It just depends on whether President Evans is willing to take me on."
Jocelyn's mind raced.
It was actually a brilliant solution.
Not only did it instantly solve her massive financial crisis, but it also brought a heavy hitter onto her side.
Liam wasn't just old money; he was a shark in the corporate world.
It was the ultimate silver lining.
Liam turned his smirk back to Adrian.
"So, Mr. Lowell. Tomorrow? We sign?"
Adrian glared at Jocelyn, his face dark as a thundercloud.
Liam chuckled darkly.
"What's wrong? Having second thoughts? Backing out now wouldn't look very good, would it? Especially after you were acting so high and mighty just a minute ago."
Adrian ground his teeth so hard his jaw visibly popped.
"Fine. We sign tomorrow."
With that, he spun on his heel, stalked back to his car, and peeled out of the driveway, disappearing into the night.
Jocelyn stood there, her mind still trying to process everything that just happened.
Liam shoved his hands in his pockets and nudged her with his elbow.
"Hey, where'd you go? Why the long face? We just won."
She let out a heavy breath.
