Liam raised an eyebrow. "Does this 'we' include Julian?"

"If he's free and wants to come, of course."

Liam let out a soft laugh. "Say the word, and even if the sky were falling, he'd be there."

A ringing phone interrupted their banter.

The caller ID read: Diana Evans.

Ever since Marcus passed away, Jocelyn had stopped calling her "Mom" and mentally filed her under "Diana Evans."

Whatever bond they had as mother and daughter was completely dead.

Reluctantly, Jocelyn answered.

"What do you want?"

"You bought the company shares straight out of Adrian's hands?" Diana demanded.

"Word travels fast."

"No wonder you were in such a rush for me to pay you back," Diana sneered. "You were setting me up all along. Well played, Jocelyn. Turns out, this was your grand ambition from the start."

"Believe whatever makes you feel better. I really don't care."

Diana went quiet for a moment.

"I heard you hooked up with some big-shot investor. I have to say, I'm impressed. You move from one man to the next without missing a beat."

Jocelyn fired right back.

"I'm nowhere near as impressive as you. Driving your husband to his grave and kicking your daughter to the curb, all to keep the family fortune for yourself."

Diana's voice turned icy.

"Watch your mouth. It was always rightfully mine."

Jocelyn let out a cold scoff.

"Do you believe in karma?"

Diana dismissed it with a scoff of her own.

"I believe people die for money just like birds die for food. If you don't fight for what's yours, you're the one who ends up suffering."

Jocelyn let out a heavy sigh.

"You're not even pretending anymore, are you? That's fine. This is the Mrs. Evans I know. Congratulations. You got exactly what you wanted."

As she spoke, Jocelyn happened to glance out the car window.

Jeremy Evans came into view.

"Pull over," Jocelyn told Liam.
