"Brother..."
Adrian's heart softened. He looked at Jocelyn.
But when he met her determined, mocking gaze, the words he wanted to say died in his throat.
"Claire, Grandma told you to kneel. So go kneel."
Claire burst into tears. Her sobs were deafening.
"Jocelyn."
Jocelyn watched as Audrey slowly approached, a cold smile playing on her lips.
The star of the show was finally making her entrance.
The grand finale.
Having just given birth and been doted on by a top-tier nanny, Audrey looked radiant and well-rested, without a single trace of the toll childbirth usually takes on a woman.
Her figure was curvy, her chest ample and alluring.
Jocelyn couldn't help but glance at Adrian.
She saw him rush to support Audrey, his voice a soft reprimand. "I told you to rest in your room. Why did you come out?"
Audrey's eyes were full of affection. "I heard you all arguing and I was worried, so I came out to see. Adrian, don't worry, I'm fine."
Claire ran to Audrey, crying. "Audrey, please ask Grandma to let me off. She's making me kneel."
Audrey wasn't foolish enough to plead with Eleanor.
"Jocelyn, Claire has a short temper. Sometimes she speaks without thinking. For Grandma's and Michelle's sake, and because she's the sister Adrian cherishes most, can you please forgive her this once?"
Brilliant! That was a brilliant speech!
Jocelyn almost wanted to applaud.
"Alright," Jocelyn sighed again, this time more deeply. "It seems my good intentions were all for nothing. In that case, I apologize to everyone. Do whatever you want."
As she finished speaking, a tear rolled down her cheek.
"Jo," Adrian felt his heart tighten. "You..."
"Don't say it," Jocelyn bit her lip. "Adrian, I've given three years of my life to this marriage, hoping we could make it work. I see now that I was just a fool living in a fantasy."
Jocelyn looked at him with tear-filled eyes. "Since you all hate me so much, maybe... we should just get a divorce."
"If I leave the Lowell family, everyone will be happy."
Before Adrian could say anything else, Jocelyn ran off, crying.
Just before she slammed her door shut, Adrian's roar echoed through the villa.
"Claire! Get out there and kneel!"
