The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 305

"I was in a meeting. My phone was in the office."

"Ah."

"Let's go inside."

"Okay."

Chloe tactfully chimed in.

"Mr. Vance, should I bring in some juice and snacks?"

Julian glanced at Jocelyn for her preference.

"No need, thank you," she said.

They walked into his office.

Taking their seats on the sofa, a brief silence settled between them.

"You..."

"I..."

They spoke in unison.

The air grew a little awkward.

"You go first," Julian offered.

Jocelyn pulled the divorce decree from her bag.

"I'm officially divorced from Adrian."

He cast a brief glance at the paper.

"I see."

"And..." She suddenly shifted uncomfortably.

This was the first time she had racked her brain this hard to formulate an apology.

"I came to apologize. I shouldn't have lost my temper the other day. I shouldn't have said those things to you."

Julian's tone was incredibly calm.

"You were right. My constant interference in your affairs would understandably make you uncomfortable."

Jocelyn blinked in surprise.

"That's not what I meant at all..."

Just like the last time she was here, he grabbed a throw pillow.

"Lean back, it'll be more comfortable."

He gently tucked the pillow behind the small of her back.

A warm feeling bloomed in her chest. She looked at him with absolute sincerity.

"I wasn't blaming you for helping me. The truth is, I'm incredibly grateful for everything you've done. I just..."

"I just hate that every time something goes wrong, I'm so powerless. I always have to rely on you, or rely on everyone else to fix it."
