The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 306

"Jo!"

Sarah practically launched herself across the floor, ready to tackle her into a hug.

Julian casually reached out an arm to intercept her.

Realizing she almost crashed into her pregnant friend, Sarah hit the brakes. "Sorry, sorry! I was just so excited I completely forgot!"

Instead, she leaned in and gave her a very gentle squeeze.

"Are you absolutely sure you don't want a few more days off? There was no rush to come in this soon."

"No, it's fine," she insisted.

Taking time off was just an excuse to hide away from the world anyway.

She was much better off diving straight back into the real world.

Sarah was practically glowing with happiness.

"I can't believe we actually get to work together now. You better look out for me, you computer genius."

Jocelyn laughed. "I hope the gorgeous Miss Sarah will look out for me, too."

Julian took her on a walking tour of the entire floor.

Surprisingly, none of the employees seemed shocked by her presence, nor were they whispering or craning their necks in curiosity.

Everyone was entirely focused on their screens, contributing to a calm and focused atmosphere.

It was an incredible work environment.

"Let me show you your office," Julian said.

"My office?" She blinked in surprise. "I'm not sitting out there with Sarah and the rest of the team?"

"No, you have your own space."

He pushed open a door to reveal a private office.

It wasn't massive, but it was exquisitely designed and impeccably clean.

Sitting squarely on the desk was a vibrant Nandina plant.

The bright crimson leaves added a wonderful pop of energy to the room.

"I know you need absolute quiet when you're writing code, and you hate being interrupted," he explained. "So I set aside this private office just for you."

"If you think it's too cramped, I can show you one of the larger suites."

Jocelyn walked around the space, absolutely in love with it.

"It's perfect. If it were too big, it would just feel empty. I love this one."

"Good."

Then, she caught onto his wording.

"Wait, did you say you 'set it aside'? This wasn't put together last minute?"

"I've had it ready since the first day I asked you to join Vanguard."

She playfully batted her eyelashes at him.
