Terrified, Jocelyn slammed on the brakes, her heart hammering wildly against her ribs.
When she saw who got out of the car, she cursed his entire bloodline a thousand times over.
She was half-tempted to floor the gas pedal and run him over.
Adrian grabbed her door handle and yanked hard.
It was locked.
His expression darkened as he pounded on the glass. "Open the door."
Jocelyn rolled the window down just a crack.
"Pull this kind of stunt again, Adrian, and I'll call the cops."
Before he could respond, she added mockingly,
"Oh, wait, I almost forgot. The mighty Lowell family can buy their way out of anything, so the cops probably wouldn't do a thing anyway."
"Get out of the car," Adrian demanded. "I need to talk to you."
Jocelyn didn't give him an inch.
"I'm busy."
Adrian delivered an ultimatum.
"You can either get out so we can talk, or we can sit here blocking the road all night."
Another car drove up behind them and honked, realizing the lane was completely blocked.
Adrian lazily raised a hand and waved them off dismissively.
He was the picture of arrogant entitlement.
Not wanting any trouble, the other driver reversed and took a different route.
*What an absolute jerk,* Jocelyn thought.
She knew that if she didn't get out, she wasn't leaving tonight.
Adrian impatiently tapped the glass again.
"You want me to keep blocking traffic?"
Left with no choice, Jocelyn stepped out.
"Can you move your car first? Your family doesn't own the road. Try having some basic decency."
"So you can speed off the second I move?"
Jocelyn sneered. "I haven't done anything wrong. Why would I run?"
Looking skeptical, Adrian finally got back in and parked his car.
When he stepped out, he slammed the door so hard it echoed.
Jocelyn watched his ridiculous behavior without a shred of emotion.
He was a grown man, yet he had the emotional regulation of a toddler.
Adrian marched over and cut straight to the chase.
