Jocelyn had no patience left to waste on him.
"You're not going to spit it out? Fine. I'm leaving."
"My grandmother says we're going to publicly announce our divorce soon!"
Adrian blurted out in a rush.
Jocelyn was genuinely surprised.
They had initially agreed to keep it a secret for six months.
Why the sudden rush to go public?
It probably had a lot to do with Caleb Preston.
He was desperate to marry his daughter off to Adrian as soon as possible.
Jocelyn couldn't figure out Caleb's endgame yet. Was he aggressively pushing for Audrey to marry Adrian purely out of love for his daughter, giving her what she wanted?
Or did he have an ulterior motive?
If the Lowells were announcing the divorce early, they would definitely spin a narrative that made them look like the victims.
And that narrative would be...
"It might be a little unfair to you, but my grandmother is going to announce that we divorced because you failed to provide an heir after three years of marriage, so..."
Just as she predicted.
Jocelyn let out a cold, bitter laugh.
"Makes perfect sense. The Lowell family has never acted like decent human beings, so this fits your brand perfectly."
Feeling a twinge of guilt, Adrian ignored her sarcasm and softened his tone.
"It might damage your reputation a bit, but I'll make sure you're generously compensated."
"Compensated?" Jocelyn's lips curled into a sneer. "You owe me a hell of a lot more than just my reputation. Do you really think you can afford to pay me back?"
"Stop acting out and think about what actually matters. Jo, you need to face reality. This is actually a good thing. The fact that I'm willing to compensate you proves I still care about you. You should consider yourself lucky."
"Is that so? Fantastic. Then I want my compensation."
Adrian looked incredibly pleased with himself.
"Alright. What do you want?"
Jocelyn's eyes turned to ice.
"I want you to make your little sister turn herself in to the police."
Adrian's face immediately fell.
"Are you ever going to let that go?"
"Our marriage is definitely over," Jocelyn replied evenly. "But the bad blood between us? That's forever."
