The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 327

Liam immediately shoved his way into the circle right next to her.

"I'm in."

Sarah teased him mercilessly.

"This is a Vanguard Tech company dinner. What are you even doing here?"

"If you're going to play that card, then you're banned from the next corporate dinner at The Evans Group."

Sarah burst into laughter.

She had temporarily forgotten that both Liam and Jocelyn held massive stakes in The Evans Group.

Because Jocelyn had limited executive experience, Liam had basically stepped up to manage a massive portion of the company's affairs.

Beneath his flippant, playboy exterior lay a brilliant, fiercely calculating businessman who handled corporate crises flawlessly.

It was a trait Sarah secretly admired about him.

The crowd respectfully cleared the center seat on the sofa for Julian.

Julian took his spot.

Jocelyn was looking for an empty chair when Liam discreetly nudged her forward.

"Go sit next to Julian."

Not thinking much of it, and noticing the open space everyone had conspicuously left beside him, Jocelyn sat down.

The rules were simple.

Whoever pulled the Joker became the dealer for the round.

The dealer called out a random number, and whoever held that card had to choose Truth or Dare.

Truth meant answering a single question with brutal honesty.

Dare meant completing whatever absurd task the dealer commanded.

If they refused both, there was a penalty.

The penalty was downing a full glass of wine in one go.

To avoid getting completely wasted, almost everyone opted to play along.

In the very first round, Sarah was the lucky target.

"Truth!" Sarah declared proudly.

The dealer smirked. "What's the one food you absolutely despise?"

Sarah opened her mouth, but Liam slapped his hand over it.

"Damn it, what kind of weak question is that? Why not just ask what she had for breakfast while you're at it?" Liam complained.

The dealer chuckled.

"I'm just warming up the crowd! If I go too hard on the first round, Sarah might flip the table."

"Then you don't know our girl," Liam said, patting Sarah's head mockingly. "Her best quality is her thick skin. Don't hold back. Give her a real question."

Sarah smiled, though her teeth were violently gritted.

"Liam Bancroft, do you have a death wish?"

Liam blinked innocently.

"If I'm going down, I'm dragging you with me."

Seizing on their chaotic banter, the dealer saw a golden opportunity.

"Alright then, I'll switch it up."

"Sarah, out of all the men currently sitting in this room, is there anyone you have romantic feelings for?"

Sarah didn't even hesitate.
