Jocelyn didn't know whether to laugh or be annoyed.

"Are you out of your mind? You spent money on this. Why would I throw it away?"

"I'm giving it to you, and you won't take it. What else am I supposed to do with it? Give it to another woman?" Liam rolled his eyes exaggeratedly. "Out of all the women I know, you're the only one whose name starts with J. It's useless to anyone else. If you don't want it, trash it."

Jocelyn certainly wasn't going to throw it away. She wasn't that wasteful. Even if it wasn't overly expensive, she couldn't just toss a piece of jewelry in the garbage.

She thought for a moment. "Tell you what. How much did it cost? I'll pay you for it, and we'll just say I bought it for myself."

She genuinely loved the necklace, anyway.

Liam glanced at Julian out of the corner of his eye and flashed a mischievous grin. "It wasn't much. Ten grand."

Ten grand!

Jocelyn's jaw dropped. "This... is ten grand?!"

"That's the friend price. It's practically priceless," Liam declared.

"Then go ahead and throw it away! I don't want it!"

Liam shrugged. "Fine. In the trash it goes."

He snatched the necklace right out of her hand and immediately aimed for the garbage can.

Jocelyn lunged forward to stop him. He was actually going to throw it away! What an absolute waste!

But Julian was faster. His hand shot out, catching Liam's wrist mid-air.

Julian calmly took the necklace from him. He rested it on his palm, staring down at it for a long moment. A complex array of emotions passed through his eyes, though whatever he was thinking remained a mystery.

Within seconds, his usual elegant composure returned.

"It's just ten grand. I'll pay for it on her behalf."

"If you're the one buying it, it's going to cost a hell of a lot more than ten grand," Liam challenged.

Julian didn't get angry. He simply smirked. "How much do you want?"

"Give me the keys to that new sports car you just bought."

"Done."

Liam snapped his fingers. "Pleasure doing business with you!"
