The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 373

Unfortunately, Jocelyn didn't get the answer she was hoping for.

"I honestly don't know who it was," Professor Thorne admitted. "When the funds and the overseas offer came through, I was highly suspicious. It felt too extraordinary."

"To ease my worries, the chancellor told me the truth about the private benefactor, but he made me swear never to tell you."

Jocelyn let out a breath. At least there was a trail to follow.

"But the former chancellor has retired," Thorne added. "If you really want to find out who it is, you'll have to ask Dr. Alistair Finch."

Jocelyn leaned forward eagerly. "Do you have Dr. Finch's contact information?"

Thorne sighed. "I used to. It was saved on my old phone, not the SIM card. When I lost the phone a few years ago, I lost his number with it."

A wave of disappointment washed over Jocelyn.

Seeing her crestfallen expression, Thorne quickly offered, "I can ask around the department for you. I'm sure someone still has his number."

Jocelyn smiled, deeply touched. "Thank you, Professor. I really appreciate it."

"Honestly, I feel so much lighter just getting this off my chest," Thorne said, patting her chest. "Keeping that secret for years was exhausting. I'll let you know the second I find his number."

The moment Todd secured the university files, he called Adrian Lowell.

Adrian listened to the report in deafening silence. Finally, his voice cut through the line, cold and absolute. "Get to the office."

He needed to see these documents with his own eyes. Otherwise, he simply refused to believe it.
