Adrian wanted to leave, but Lana held him back.
"You're in a bad headspace right now. Stay a little longer. Wait until you've calmed down so you don't do anything reckless," she urged softly.
Only then did Adrian notice the injuries on Lana's hands.
There was more than one cut.
The bleeding spots were likely from where she had accidentally scratched herself picking up the broken glass earlier.
And what was the deal with her broken fingernail?
"What happened to your nail?" he asked, frowning.
Lana didn't seem to care.
"It's nothing. It'll grow back in a couple of days."
Adrian didn't press the issue.
"Pour me another cup of tea."
Lana brewed a fresh cup and brought it over.
Adrian took a couple of sips.
"Do you know who provided the evidence of Claire's hit-and-run?"
Lana gently massaged his shoulders.
"Who was it?"
A ruthless glint flashed in Adrian's eyes.
"Caleb Preston."
Lana paused. "Caleb Preston? Audrey's father? How is that possible? Aren't you and Audrey about to get married?"
Adrian scoffed coldly.
"What do you think his motive for doing this is?"
Lana arched an eyebrow, a faint smile playing on her lips.
"Well, that depends on what Chairman Preston's real motive is for marrying Audrey off to you."
Adrian's expression shifted, his quiet scoff carrying a heavy weight of unspoken realization.
"Are you planning to tell the elder Mrs. Lowell about this?"
A trace of cold indifference swept through Adrian's gaze.
A sudden phone call cut his thoughts short.
Michelle's anxious voice came through the line.
"Adrian, come home right away. Your grandmother just passed out."
