The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 400

"Miss Evans!"

Jocelyn stopped and turned around.

"What now?"

"I am so, so sorry."

Jocelyn offered a cold, humorless smile.

"I get it. You're in love with him."

When a woman was completely gone for a man, logic flew out the window, and her IQ plummeted.

It was a phenomenon Jocelyn was unfortunately very familiar with.

So she understood. There was no real malice left.

"Just a piece of advice. Don't try to beg for Claire's sake. If you do, I'll lose all respect for you."

"I wouldn't dare."

A look of deep sorrow crossed Lana's face.

"Claire brought this on herself. She broke the law, and she needs to face the consequences. But please try not to blame Adrian entirely. His hands are tied. She's his sister, and he's got his grandmother constantly breathing down his neck, demanding he fix it."

Jocelyn let out an exasperated sigh.

"I'm amazed you can still find it in you to defend him."

Walking back inside the shop.

Adrian was slumped in a chair, looking completely unhinged.

Lana walked over and poured him a fresh glass of water.

The second the glass brushed against his fingers, he violently swatted it away.

It hit the floor and shattered. It was part of Lana's favorite set, now completely ruined.

Kneeling down, Lana calmly began picking up the shards of glass.

Adrian suddenly shot to his feet, viciously kicking the broken pieces across the floor.

"You're always defending her! Well, you saw her! She's a heartless, vindictive bitch! We were married for three years, and she won't even grant me this one goddamn favor! Did she forget that Claire is practically her sister too?!"

A sharp edge sliced across Lana's delicate skin, drawing blood.
