The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 423

On the walk back.

Gideon spoke up. "One King, one Storm. The two greatest hackers who took the internet by storm years ago, and I met both of them at once. My life is complete."

Julian: "Skip the flattery."

Gideon: "Still jealous?"

Julian stopped abruptly.

"I am not jealous."

Gideon nodded earnestly.

"It's pretty obvious."

Julian's eyes narrowed slightly.

"I am not."

Gideon nodded again.

"If King says he's not, then he's not."

Julian crossed his arms.

"Tomorrow, I'll have my assistant set you up with a place to live. You'll get an advance on your salary. If you need anything, go straight to Ethan."

Gideon kept nodding.

"Basically, don't bother Jocelyn?"

Julian: "She's very busy."

Gideon: "Sure. If King says she's busy, then she's busy."

They walked a bit further.

Gideon dropped another bomb.

"You're into her."

It wasn't a question.

It was a statement of fact.

Julian's steps faltered.

"We are just good friends."

Gideon scoffed.

"Your definition of 'good friends' is pretty ambiguous."

Julian: "You talk too much."

Gideon nodded thoughtfully.

"Seems so. You don't like it?"

Julian: "Say what needs to be said. Keep the rest to yourself."

Gideon: "What needs to be said, and what doesn't?"

Julian: "Anything concerning her, or my relationship with her, is none of your business."

Gideon nodded for the nth time.

"Translated: I shouldn't pay too much attention to Jocelyn, and I can't tell anyone you're into her. Is that it?"

Julian pressed his lips together, giving him a sharp look.
