Gideon: "You have good taste."
Julian frowned.
"You bought that for him?"
Jocelyn: "Yeah, I figured when he meets you, he should look professional. My taste isn't bad, right?"
Julian looked Gideon up and down.
"It's nothing special."
Jocelyn walked a circle around Gideon.
"Really? I think it looks great."
Julian's voice was flat.
"It doesn't."
Jocelyn laughed. "Alright, I guess our tastes differ."
Gideon's lips twitched before he drawled his words out.
"He's not saying the clothes look bad. He's saying the fact that you bought them for me is bad."
Jocelyn didn't catch his meaning at first.

Jocelyn froze.

Gideon extended a hand.

Julian shook his hand. "Are you that certain I'm King?"
Gideon: "Jocelyn mentioned she'd arrange a meeting with King in a couple of days. Based on the timeline, it made sense you'd be back. Plus, your presence isn't exactly ordinary. It was a solid guess."
Julian: "I'm just here to accompany Jocelyn to grab some things. We'll discuss work details at my office tomorrow."
Gideon: "Understood."
He then turned to ask Jocelyn.
"What do you need to grab? Need help?"
Jocelyn smiled faintly.
"No, just a change of clothes."
Gideon: "What for?"
Jocelyn: "Something came up today, and it's too late to come all the way back. I'll just crash at Mr. Vance's place for the night."
Gideon: "This is your home. You can stay here. There are two bedrooms anyway."
Jocelyn thought about it.
Right, she could absolutely just stay at her own place.
There were two bedrooms.
"My brain is scattered today, I..."
