Jocelyn assumed Penelope was just teasing.
"Julian would never blame you for that."
But Julian chimed in seamlessly.
"Next time you need something, please call me first. Jo has been incredibly busy lately. She needs her rest."
Penelope laughed.
"See? What did I tell you? He's definitely blaming me."
Jocelyn shot him a playful glare.
"Stop it. I was thrilled to get a call from her. That's what family is for."
Julian hesitated, "I'm just worried..."
Jocelyn knew exactly what he was worried about—her pregnancy.
But with Adrian standing right there, she couldn't say it out loud.
"Relax. I'm not that fragile."
Julian still looked unconvinced.
"Are you tired? Do you want me to take you home so you can lie down?"
Jocelyn sat down next to Penelope's bed.
"I'm not tired. I want to stay here with her."
Julian gave her a devastatingly soft smile.
"Alright. What do you girls want to eat? I'll go get it."
Jocelyn thought for a second.
"Roasted Sweet Potato."
Julian frowned.
"That kind of street food..."
Jocelyn instantly cut him off.
"Here comes the lecture! Too bad, I want a roasted sweet potato."
Penelope immediately backed her up.
"Whatever Jo wants, she gets. As long as it makes her happy."
Julian's gaze melted into pure adoration.
"Alright. I'll go buy it."
As he turned to leave, he caught Penelope grinning knowingly at him.
"And what would you like?"
Penelope, completely forgetting she was a patient hooked up to an IV, beamed.
"Oh, so you finally remembered the sick person in the room."
Julian cleared his throat, looking slightly awkward.
