Jocelyn barely raised an eyebrow. She looked completely unfazed.
Whatever.
If she thought about it, her growing belly would be noticed eventually anyway.
It was only a matter of time.
Adrian's face darkened as he demanded, "What did she do behind my back?"
Audrey bit her lip, her chest heaving with anxiety.
If she told him, what if he kept stringing Jocelyn along?
Adrian was losing his patience.
"Spit it out!"
Audrey choked on her words before finally blurting out, "She bullied me behind your back!"
Jocelyn almost laughed out loud.
That was a pretty smooth pivot.
Adrian instantly felt nothing but exhaustion at Audrey's childishness.
"Just go home!"
Audrey was devastated.
If Adrian treated her like this in private, she might be able to swallow it.
But in front of his ex-wife? It was too humiliating to bear.
All of Audrey's pent-up emotions exploded.
"Adrian! Is this because the Preston family fell? Is that why your attitude toward me has changed!"
Adrian froze.
He hadn't expected the usually obedient Audrey to say something so sharp.
He gritted his teeth and hissed.
"Can you stop making a scene right now? Whatever you have to say, we'll talk about it at home!"
"No!" Audrey yelled, throwing caution to the wind. "We're going to talk about it right here, in front of your ex-wife!"
Adrian's frown deepened into a furious scowl.
"What is there to say! We have nothing to talk about!"
"I'm going to say it!"
"Audrey! Stop pushing me!"
Tears streamed continuously down Audrey's face.
Jocelyn sighed silently.
"You two have fun hashing this out. I'm going to head out."
But Audrey blocked her path again.
