The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 471

Adrian Lowell was packing his belongings in his study. The moving company was scheduled to arrive in a couple of days. The family was relocating to the South Hills.

Audrey Lowell walked in, cradling the baby.

Just as she entered, Adrian's phone rang. The caller ID showed an unknown number.

He put it on speaker, placed it on his desk, and continued sorting through his things.

"Mr. Lowell, it's me. Julian Vance."

Adrian froze.

Julian Vance?

Why would he be calling him?

This was a rare occurrence.

"Why is Mr. Vance calling me? What can I do for you?"

Julian cut straight to the chase.

"I'm only going to ask you once. Did Jocelyn come to see you?"

Adrian scoffed.

"Mr. Vance, aren't you overstepping your boundaries? Jo..."

"Jocelyn is missing."

The object in Adrian's hand crashed to the floor.

"What did you say?"

"She has been missing for almost three hours."

Adrian's chest tightened.

"Did you try calling her?"

"If her phone was reachable, I wouldn't be calling you."

Calling Adrian Lowell.

It was a move born of sheer desperation for Julian.

If he had any other options.

He never would have reached out to him.

Sensing that something was terribly wrong, Adrian dropped his usual hostility.

"She mentioned she was going to come pick up some things, but she said she was busy these couple of days, so we haven't met."

A heavy silence fell over the line.

"Mr. Lowell, there is something you need to know."

Audrey stepped closer.

Instinctively, Adrian picked up the phone, disabled the speaker, and pressed it tight against his ear.

"Speak."

A few seconds later.

Adrian's brow furrowed deeper than it ever had before.

Suppressing her jealousy, Audrey feigned concern.

"Adrian, did something happen to Jo?"

Adrian's gaze turned incredibly somber, an abyss of dark emotion.

Audrey shuddered in fear.
