The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 483

In truth, Adrian had noticed this a long time ago. He had simply been pretending to be blind to it.

"I don't love her," he stated flatly.

"Hah," Jocelyn let out a half-smile. "Who could you ever truly love, Adrian?"

Adrian looked at her, a burning intensity flashing in his eyes. "I..."

"Adrian," Jocelyn sighed, cutting him off. "I really can't stand Audrey, but I also pity her. Honestly, any woman involved with you is pitiful."

That included Lana.

Because no one could ever extract genuine love from Adrian Lowell. All they ever got was physical comfort when he happened to be in a good mood.

Adrian clearly wanted to change the subject. "Let's get to the hospital."

Jocelyn shook her head. "It's fine. I can go myself."

Adrian raised an eyebrow. "Do you honestly think I'd let you go alone?"

Jocelyn let out a defeated sigh. "Fine, take me."

The biting wind made the cut on her neck sting sharply. But strangely, her chest was aching, too.

The car slowly pulled away from the curb.

Jocelyn instinctively turned her head. The figure that appeared in the rearview mirror made her heart constrict violently.

Julian stood quietly behind the car, his hands shoved deep into his pockets. His face was completely neutral, devoid of any visible joy or sorrow. But the light in his dark eyes had shattered into a million broken pieces.

Jocelyn quickly looked away and squeezed her eyes shut. The suffocating weight in her chest made it hard to breathe.

She thought she had become immune to these kinds of messy emotions after divorcing Adrian. Why did she still feel this gut-wrenching pang?

Adrian noticed her distress. "What's wrong?"

Jocelyn leaned back against the headrest, refusing to open her eyes. "Just drive."

The car sped off into the night.

Julian remained frozen in place.

Sarah stared at his profile, her fingers curling nervously. "Mr. Vance, I..."

Julian's gaze darkened. "She knows, doesn't she?"

Sarah froze. "Yes."
