The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 491

Adrian Lowell didn't know why his desire had suddenly vanished. A moment ago, his arousal had been intense. But right as he was about to take Audrey, a sudden wave of repulsion washed over him, instantly extinguishing his passion.

He firmly believed there was nothing physically wrong with him.

If anything was broken, it was his heart.

Walking to the door, Adrian heard the sharp wails of a baby.

Leo Lowell had been extremely fussy the past two nights.

Michelle Lowell kept blaming it on bad luck.

Adrian found himself agreeing that they needed to move out as soon as possible.

The maternity nurse was rocking the baby, trying to soothe him.

When she saw Adrian walk in, she quickly greeted him.

"Mr. Lowell."

Adrian offered a faint nod, his gaze falling on the infant's features.

The baby definitely shared a resemblance with Audrey.

But as for him? There didn't seem to be any connection.

"Ma'am, who do you think this child looks like?"

The nurse didn't overthink it and answered honestly.

"He looks more like Mrs. Lowell, I'd say."

"And what about me?" Adrian pressed.

The nurse studied the baby for a moment.

"He doesn't look much like you right now, Mr. Lowell. But he's still just an infant. I've seen plenty of babies who look like their mothers when they're little, but as they grow, they take after their fathers more and more."

Adrian's gaze lingered on Leo's face for a long moment before he finally looked away.

Meanwhile, at The Astoria.

The dazzling luxury of the crystal chandelier illuminated two figures who looked like a perfect match.

Jocelyn held her glass, wanting a sip of water.

Only to realize it was already empty.

"Do you want me to pour you another glass?" Julian Vance asked.

"No, I'm fine," Jocelyn replied awkwardly. "I'm not thirsty anymore."
