The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 494

"Jocelyn," Julian said, turning to face her with a calm expression.

"You know I have a fiancée."

Jocelyn pressed her lips together. "I know."

"Yeah."

And with that, the conversation ended.

Jocelyn pondered that simple "Yeah" for a long time, unable to decipher its underlying meaning.

"Lock the door. Take tomorrow off and get some rest."

Julian called out, walking away without looking back.

Jocelyn stood there in a daze before closing the door, a heavy, suffocating feeling settling in her chest.

But she couldn't explain why it was there.

The next morning.

Jocelyn was jolted awake by the doorbell.

Glancing at the time, she realized it was almost ten o'clock.

She threw on a coat and went to open the door.

A delivery driver handed her a massive bag.

"Miss, here's your order."

Jocelyn frowned in confusion.

"You must have the wrong place. I didn't order anything."

"I definitely have the right place. The address and apartment number match perfectly. Are you Miss Jocelyn?"

Jocelyn checked the receipt attached to the bag.

The address was correct.

But she definitely hadn't ordered anything.

One look at the packaging told her exactly what it was.

It was from The Heritage Soup Kitchen.

"Doesn't this place strictly not do delivery?"

"I don't know the details," the driver replied. "I just accepted a custom courier request. Someone hired me to pick up the food from the restaurant and bring it here."

"Who placed the order?"

The driver checked his phone.

"A Mr. Lowell."

Adrian?
