Chapter 3
Lily moved at lightning speed.
Before long, the storage room door was suddenly pushed open from the outside.
Lily entered with two bodyguards, walking briskly.
When she saw the blood at the corner of my mouth, my disheveled clothes, and my crumpled, miserable state on the floor, she was shocked.
She hurried over and helped me up.
I shook my head, signaling for her to stay quiet, and took the card with the password from
her hand, tossing it at Zoe.
She accepted the card but didn’t continue to press the issue. She waved her hand
dismissively.
“If you gave me a fake card, I know plenty of ways to track you down. Get out of here.”
I endured the excruciating pain all over my body, and with Lily’s support, hobbled out of that
disgusting place.
When we reached the door, I thanked Lily, “Thanks, Lily. I’ll settle everything soon and pay you
back.”
She looked at me worriedly, “It’s no big deal, but what happened to you?”
I chuckled faintly, “My brother found himself a good girlfriend. I think it’s time I had a word
with him.”
I took out my phone and dialed the restaurant’s assistant manager.
This assistant manager was the actual one running the place. I had personally brought him
in, so he was loyal to me.
The phone connected, and I didn’t waste time with pleasantries, my voice flat and
emotionless.
“You’ve got ten minutes to fire a manager named Zoe Taylor.”
“Otherwise, the Montgomery family will pull out all investments from the restaurant, leaving it

with nothing.”
The assistant manager was terrified as soon as he heard my voice.
He probably sensed the weakness and unease in my tone and quickly agreed, not daring to ask why.
I hung up without a second thought, immediately calling a cab to head to the police station.
I explained everything that had happened in the clearest, calmest manner to the officer who
received me.
After making a detailed statement at the station, I went to the hospital for a medical
examination.
With the thin report in my hand, the anger of betrayal in my chest felt like hot oil pouring onto
a fire, only intensifying as it burned.
I needed an explanation.
I needed Blake to give me one, in person.
My assistant had found out Blake was at his own house. With my driver and bodyguard in
tow, we headed straight for Blake’s villa.
That villa was a gift from me to him.
But when I arrived, what greeted me was the deafening sound of heavy metal music.
And through the door and windows, I could hear the raucous sounds of men and women.
He was throwing a party. No wonder he hadn’t answered my call earlier.
The villa door was slightly ajar. For some reason, I didn’t immediately push it open.
Soon, I heard a familiar, tearful voice.
It was Zoe.
She was crying to everyone in the room, painting herself as the victim of an arrogant mistress and being unjustly blamed.
“…I just asked her to settle the bill, and she threw a million in my face, then had me fired…”

“Blake, she’s gone too far. She doesn’t even respect you!”
“She just wants to humiliate me and break us up!”
