The MC President's Forsaken Wife (Zara and Knox) novel Chapter 107

Chapter 66-2

He turns his hand over beneath mine, our fingers tangling together. “I’m sorry, Zara. Truly sorry.”

This time, I believe he isn’t apologizing because he wants forgiveness, he’s apologizing because he finally understands what he tried to take from me.

I nod slowly. “Thank you.”

His shoulders drop almost imperceptibly. “You’re welcome, baby.”

We smile at each other, our eyes holding, and a familiar lick of flame ignited in my stomach, my chest.

“So,” he says. “How are you feeling?”

I laugh softly. “About what, in particular?”

“Dealer’s choice.”

I think about it. “My life has become unexpectedly complicated.”

“I noticed.”

“I might have a sister.”

“You might.”

“My father might be grieving thirty-plus years that he never knew he’d lost.”

“He might.”

“I might still have cancer, or I might be in remission.”

“My vote is the second one.”

“And the club forensic accountant keeps making me talk about my feelings.”

“I’ve heard he’s relentless about that shit.”

“He’s the worst.”

He smiles. “I’ll have a word with him.”

I shake my head. “I think he’s finally catching on.”

“I hope so.”

We sit together for another minute, holding hands, comfortable now in a way that we haven’t been since Knox ambushed me in that parking garage.

Eventually he clears his throat. “So…”

I look at him. “Yes?”

“When do you think you’ll come home, baby?”

<Chapter 662-

Not Are you coming home? Not You should come home. Just when.

Like he belleves the decision belongs to me, and actually, it absolutely does. And now that he’s asked, I don’t even have to think about it.

I smile. “Tonight.”

His eyebrows lift. “Tonight?”

I nod. “Now.”

“Now?”

“Right now.”

For the first time in days, his smile reaches his eyes.

“So,” he says, climbing to his feet. “Shall we go home?”

I slip off my stool and pull on my jacket. “I thought you’d never ask.”

“Careful,” he says. “You’re starting to sound pleased to see me.”

“Don’t push your luck.”

“I wouldn’t dream of it, baby.” He grins. “You want to take the bike with me, or have me follow your car?”

“Let’s take your motorcycle,” I say. “Leave the car here tonight.”

“You’re the boss.”

Outside, the evening air is cool against my skin as we cross the yard to where his motorcycle is parked beneath the security lights. He unlocks the storage box at the back and lifts out my helmet.

Without a word, he steps closer, and I hold still as he settles it over my head. His fingers brush lightly beneath my chin as he fastens the strap, checking it with the same quiet concentration he seems to give everything important. His hand lingers for the briefest heartbeat before dropping away.

“Comfortable?”

I nod.

“Good.” He swings one leg over the bike before glancing back at me, extending one hand. “You coming or what?”

Laughing softly, I take his hand and climb on behind him, slide my arms around his waist. Slowly, gently and just for a second – he rests one hand over mine where it’s clasped against his stomach. Then he starts the engine, the familiar rumble vibrating through both of us.

As we pull out of the clubhouse gates and disappear into the evening traffic, I rest my cheek lightly against his back and close my eyes. Some silences mean something’s broken, but this one feels like something’s been quietly put back together again.

Tomorrow would bring Willow.
