The MC President's Forsaken Wife (Zara and Knox) novel Chapter 181

Chapter 97-3

Claim

Dad slowly stands up from the barstool, rolling his broad shoulders back, the weary posture vanishing. He looks at Mayhem, then at Locke, his jaw set like granite.

“Knox thinks he’s hidden well and deep enough that nobody can touch him,” Dad says. “He thinks he can use synthetics to fund a war against my family and my club. He’s dead wrong.”

“What’s the move, Cobra?” Locke asks, his voice dropping into that chilling, silent-killer tone that used to terrify me before I learned to see the man behind it.

Dad looks over at me, his eyes softening for a fleeting second as he takes in the sight of Locke’s hand resting securely on my waist, keeping me grounded, keeping me safe.

“We get a few hours of rest,” Dad says to Mayhem and Locke. “At noon, we have an emergency officers’ meeting here. This place is safer than the clubhouse right now, so it’s our base for the foreseeable future. It’s where we’re going to plan our next moves – and from now on, we do everything as a club.”

Dad steps closer, reaching out to lay his massive, heavy hand on my shoulder, squeezing gently.

“Knox was a shit husband to you, Zara,” he says. “He cheated, he lied, and fuck knows what else, because I know there are things you’ve never told us.”

“Dad -“I begin, but he shushes me with a wave of his hand.

“Now we also know that he forged your signature to hide behind layers of paper, to set up his whole shady fucking operation. He used the Skulls’ legit work and legitimate partnerships to run his dirty business right on my company manifests. And now? Now we know he’s a full-on drug producer, distributor, and supplier.” A heavy, suffocating silence settles over the room. Nobody moves, nobody breathes. The air itself feels thick, charged with the sudden, metallic tang of violence waiting to break.

My father stands over the island like an iron pillar, his knuckles white where they grip the edge of the marble, his eyes dark with a lethal, quiet fury.

“We’re going to end it all,” Dad says, his voice low, rough. “We’re going to burn that fucking lab to the ground until there isn’t a single brick left standing on Route 9. We leave nothing. No product, no papers, nobody to start things up again. We end it, for good and forever.”

I stare at my father, feeling the steady, unbroken beat of my own heart thudding against my ribs.

The cold, paralyzing terror that had consumed me all night while staring at those flickering security monitors hasn’t disappeared. It mutters low in my gut, then mutates. It sharpens into something dark, bright, and completely uncompromising.

The fear vanishes, replaced by a cold, quiet rage that feels as sharp as glass in my veins. Knox tried to take my life, my family, and my future.

It ends now.

For good and forever.

I lift my chin, locking eyes with my father.

Burn it down,” I say softly: “Destroy every last fucking inch of it. Take away everything that fucker has built up, using all of us to do it.”

Beside me, Locke’s hand stides up the back of my neck, his thumb pressing hard against my pulse point, grounding me in the dark promise of what comes next. His eyes burn down into mine, fierce, possessive, and merciless.

“Done, baby,” Locke growls into the quiet room, his jaw set like stone. “Motherfucking done.”
