The MC President's Forsaken Wife (Zara and Knox) novel Chapter 218

Chapter 112-2

“What is that?” Cain mutters, stepping up beside me and sniffing the air, his eyes widening. “It smells like chemicals.”

“They sanitized it,” I say, my voice dropping into a razor-thin whisper. “They chemically dissolved the blood before they left.”

“They… what?”

“They knew the DNA would trace back to them somehow,” I say, the sheer discipline of the move burning in my throat like acid. “You don’t carry bio-neutralizing powder on a heist unless you plan for worst-case scenarios.

“What?”

“You don’t dump the powder on a blood pool unless you know exactly how evidence collection works. Their man got shot, they dragged him away, and neutralized the evidence, probably all in under thirty seconds.”

“So we have nothing,” Cain says, his face going completely ash-white under the spotlight. “No DNA means no names to follow up on.”

I stand up slowly, staring down into the bubbling slurry. “What we have here is proof that we’re dealing with professionals who don’t make mistakes.”

“They’re thorough, for goddamn sure,” Cain mutters, scanning the tree line. “No spent brass from their side except what hit our guy. No abandoned gear. No blood.”

“They’re methodical,” I correct him. “Which means they calculated the risk – but they took a big loss when their guy got shot. You can plan for choke points, but you can’t plan for a guy with a shotgun taking a chunk out of your man.”

I look back toward the ditch where my surviving escort guards are sitting, bound with plastic zip-ties, shivering in the damp air as they watch us in complete silence. They think they’re waiting for someone to cut them loose and send them home.

“Knox?” Cain asks quietly, sensing the shift in the air. “What do we do with the escorts?”

I stare at the useless, soft cowards that I trusted to guard my fortune. They failed me. My own security failed, the drivers failed, and every single link in this chain allowed a rival force to carve a hole in my operation and steal millions right out from under my nose.

Again.

If I let this pass, if I let failure sit on my books, word gets out on the street that my shipments are open

season.

“Nobody leaves this road alive,” I say, my voice cold as stone. “Not one of those fuckers.”

Cain blinks, his breath catching in his throat. “Knox… they were just caught off guard-”

“I don’t care,” I cut him off, staring straight into his eyes until he looks down. “Every single man who was on

his convoy dies tonight. The drivers, the escorts, the spotters. Clean them out.”

What-here?”

Claim

Yeah, here. Throw their bodies in the back of that stolen logging truck and torch it in the deep woods. I’m ot leaving a single loose end for this outside crew to track back to me, and I will not pay men who let my noney drive away.”

Cain swallows hard, his jaw working as he nods, pulling his phone from his pocket to call in the cleanup crew. “And the local clinics? The private docs?

Put eyes on every unlicensed medic, back-alley surgeon, and crooked vet within a fifty-mile radius,” I >rder. “Look for anyone buying heavy antibiotics, blood plasma, or surgical supplies off the books.”

Okay.”

A man who took a twelve-gauge blast is flat on his back right now. He’s sweating through sheets, screaming through his teeth, and his people are doing everything they can to keep his heart beating. And Cain?”

Yeah, Knox?”

Tell the cleanup team to bring the heavy excavators.”

‘For what?”

I don’t just want the logging truck burned… I want this entire section of shoulder dug up and turned over. Scrape the top six inches of soil, load it into a dump truck, and pour fresh gravel over the ditch. You have about six hours before sunrise, so get it fucking done.”

‘Fresh gravel?” Cain blinks, confused. “Why?”

‘Because if anyone comes back here looking for clues – or if the local authorities eventually wander onto this detour – I want them standing on clean stone,” I say. “I want this road erased. No blood, no brass, no

bodies.”

I look Cain dead in the eyes.

“And when you start shaking down the private doctors,” I add, my voice dropping into a harsh whisper. “Tell them that anyone caught hiding a gunshot wound gets put in the ground right beside their patient.”

I stalk over to my truck, and pull away from the shoulder, leaving Cain and the spotlights behind in the dark timber, my mind focused entirely on the hunt.

Whoever is out there, whoever thought they could step onto my turf and walk away with my payload, just bought themselves a war.

They left blood in the mud – theirs and my crew’s – and I will burn the fucking world down, house by house, club by club, until I find the room where their man is bleeding out.

Hopefully to death.
