The MC President's Forsaken Wife (Zara and Knox) novel Chapter 253

Chapter 127-2

“You went public,” I say, the realization washing over me. “Like… really public.”

“I delivered copy-pasted dossiers directly to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service, the Canadian Mounted Police, and the front desk of the New York Times,” Locke says with a dark, lethal satisfaction. “I laid out a complete, forensic blueprint detailing every single crime Julian had ever committed, along with every financial institution and corporate entity that had aided and abetted him.”

“Including your father’s company,” I say.

“Including my father’s company,” Locke echoes without a single flicker of regret. “My father called me thirty minutes after the news broke in the press. He was screaming, telling me I was destroying decades of vital corporate relationships, destroying the family name, over what he called a ‘private internal tragedy.”

My stomach turns over at the sheer, cold narcissism of his father. “And what did you tell him?”

“I told him that their right to privacy permanently ended the moment they used it to protect a monster,” Locke says. “I told him that his family name was built on blood and cowardice, and he could fucking keep

it.”

I stare up at him, my heart breaking and soaring all at once.

There he is, yet again, that amazing, strong, brave man. That’s the man holding me right now.

This man walked away from hundreds of millions of dollars, from power, prestige, and high society, because he refused to let wealth shield a predator. He dismantled his own birthright to make sure justice was finally served.

“I cut all ties with the family estate that night,” Locke says. “I stripped my name off their trusts, abandoned my corporate vice presidency, and.left that world behind forever. A year later, I found Cobra and the MC.”

“How did you end up joining them?”

“In short, they were looking for a guy who understands complex financial systems, numbers, paperwork. So I traded tailored suits for leather, and built a life where we protect our own, no matter what it costs.”

“What happened to Julian?” I ask. “I know he went to jail, but how?”

“He was arrested forty-eight hours after the story hit the press,” Locke says. “Convicted of attempted murder, aggravated assault, financial fraud, tax evasion, and felony stalking. He’s serving a thirty-five-year sentence in a maximum-security federal penitentiary with zero chance of parole. He’ll die behind bars.”

“Good,” I say fiercely, my fingers gripping Locke’s shirt. “Thank God.”

“Yeah,” Locke says. “Thank God.”

“And Evelyn?” I ask, my voice softening as I think of the woman living in the quiet shadows. “How is she now?”

Locke’s expression softens, the hard, lethal lines of his face relaxing just a fraction.

“She survived, Zara,” he says gently. “She lives in a quiet, beautiful cottage near the coast in Maine now. She bought it with money I secured for her from an independent settlement. She has three dogs, a greenhouse where she grows heirloom tomatoes, and a small studio where she paints.”

“Does she ever leave?”

“Rarely,” Locke admits. “She still has physical scars on her face. Her collarbone never set quite right, which hurts her, and her right hand aches badly Thank God she’s left-handed, so she can paint without pain.”

“And the emotional toll?”

“Yeah, that’s the real damage. She doesn’t like being outside, she doesn’t travel, and she checks her locks three times before she goes to sleep every night. That’s all permanent, Zara. But she is safe, and she’s free. She has a quiet life where no one can hurt her, and no one from that family will ever touch her again.”

“And you still talk to her…”

“Every single month,” Locke says, a small, genuine warmth touching his eyes. “The first Monday morning of every month. I’ve had to move our call around a few times lately, but we do talk.”

He pauses, leaning down until his forehead rests gently against mine, his warm, steady breath fanning across my lips.

“She knows about you,” Locke says. “I’ve told her everything about you, baby. From the moment you walked into my life, through every single chemo session, every hard night, every victory.”

“What does she say about me?” I ask.

“She says I’m a lucky man,” Locke says, his hand coming up to cup my face with exquisite, reverence-filled care. “She says I finally found someone strong enough to stand beside me in the dark. And she’s right.”

I reach up, wrapping my arms tightly around his neck, pulling him down into a deep, lingering kiss. He tastes like coffee and absolute devotion.

Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the blizzard rages on, burying the world beneath mountains of cold, white snow. But inside the dark, warm living room of the penthouse, wrapped in the arms of the man who gave up everything to stand for what was right, I feel entirely, perfectly safe.

Nothing, and nobody, can hurt me. Not ever again.
