The MC President's Forsaken Wife (Zara and Knox) novel Chapter 296

Chapter 145-3

“Locke…” My voice comes out smaller than I want it to, barely a whisper. “I -”

“I know,” Locke interrupts gently, his eyes softening with a deep, pained tenderness as he watches the color drain from my cheeks. He squeezes my hands tighter, pulling them up toward his chest. “I know, baby. I know what this sounds like. I know every dark place your head is going right now, and God knows I fucking hate putting this on you.”

I swallow hard, forcing the lump in my throat down, staring at our joined hands. “Is it about Knox? Vane?”

Locke’s jaw tightens slightly, a subtle muscle flexing in his cheek, but he doesn’t answer. He can’t.

“I can’t give you details, Zara,” he repeats softly, his voice laced with a bitter, frustrating restraint. “You know the rules. The less you know right now, the safer you are, and the safer the club stays while I’m out there. If I could lay every single card out on this table for you right now, I would. You know I don’t keep things from you unless my hands are completely tied.”

“I know,” I say. “I do know.”

I look up into his face, taking in the line of his mouth, the sharp structure of his jaw, and the deep, silent agony in his eyes. He hates this. He hates the secrecy, he hates leaving me behind, and he hates the fear he can see reflecting in my eyes.

Locke is a man built on protection and absolute control, and right now, he’s handing me uncertainty wrapped in silence.

Silence stretches between us, filled only by the crackles in the fireplace and the steady thrum of my own racing heart.

This is the line.

I’ve lived on the edges of this world my entire life. I’ve watched Jade wait by the window late at night, listening for the sound of my brother’s bike. I’ve seen women panic, I’ve seen women scream, and I’ve seen women break under the constant, suffocating weight of the unknown.

I don’t want to be the woman who breaks. I don’t want to be the woman who adds more weight to the heavy pack he’s already carrying out that door.

I take a slow, deep breath, letting the air fill my lungs, forcing the tremor out of my hands.

“Okay,” I say softly.

Locke blinks, slightly caught off guard by the sudden calm in my voice. “…Okay?”

“Okay,” I repeat, a quiet, firm declaration of faith. “I don’t need the details, Locke. I don’t need to know the road, and I don’t need to know the names.”

Locke stares at me, his brow furrowing slightly as he listens.

“I know who you are,” I say. “I know how smart you are, I know how lethal you are, and I know you don’t take stupid risks. If you’re going out there, it’s because it needs to be done. If my Dad signed off on it, then it’s what’s best. I trust you, Locke. I trust my Dad. And if this is the play… then I’m behind you, all the way.”

Chapter 145

The tension in Locke’s shoulders doesn’t melt away completely – it can’t – but something profound shifts iThis eyes.

A raw, dark mixture of relief, pride, and possession washes across his features as he stares down at me.

For the first time since I moved into this penthouse, since I stepped fully into his life and let him claim me, I feel the true weight of what it means to be an MC man’s woman.

It’s standing firm when the storm rolls in, giving him a place where he can drop his guard without fear of breaking what he’s trying to protect.

“Fuck, baby,” Locke breathes, the restraint in his voice snapping entirely. “I love you.”

His hand shoots out, gripping the back of my neck with a heavy, bruising force that arches my throat up toward him.

There’s no soft apology left in his eyes, no lingering hesitation… only a dark, ravenous hunger spiked with the lethal edge of a man who knows he’s heading into dangerous territory tomorrow and needs to stake his claim tonight.

He hauls me up against his chest, his large body trapping mine against the leather cushions as his mouth slams down onto mine.

“Locke -“I breathe against his mouth, my fingers tangling wildly into his thick hair. “I love you…

‘You’re mine, Zara,” he growls against my lips, his rough hands sliding under my shirt with a heavy, impatient speed, tearing the fabric. His palms squeeze my waist, his knuckles dragging over my breasts, marking me as his. “Say it before I fuck you right here on this floor.”

‘I’m yours,” I whisper, arching my chest into his hands as the heat between us explodes, thick, dark, and wild enough to consume the room whole. “Every inch of me.”
