The MC President's Forsaken Wife (Zara and Knox) novel Chapter 399

Chapter 195-2

In the dark corner of the warehouse, guarded by two nervous mercenaries who shift their weight rhythmically from boot to boot, Willow sits on the floor. Her knees are pulled tight to her chest, her hands clutched over her mouth to muffle her violent, shuddering sobs.

The guilt radiating off her is thick enough to choke on. Every time Knox touches the phone, every time Becca spits venom at me, Willow flinches as if a whip has struck her back.

Slowly, deliberate in my movement, I shift my gaze away from Knox’s camera and look into the dark

corner.

I catch Willow’s eyes.

She freezes. Her tear–streaked face pales further as she waits for the wrath she believes she deserves after telling Knox about the baby. She braces herself, her slim shoulders pulling inward, expecting hatred.

Instead, I offer her a tiny, barely perceptible nod. I soften my eyes, holding her gaze in the freezing gloom, letting a quiet, absolute glimmer of understanding pass between us.

It’s okay. I forgive you.

The words aren’t spoken, but they don’t need to be. The quiet, unyielding grace cuts through the filth of this room like a beam of sunlight through smoke.

Willow’s chest heaves violently. The silent forgiveness breaks her more completely than any curse or blow ever could.

She buries her face against her knees, completely undone by the realization that the woman she accidentally hurt and set up holds no hatred for her. A soft, shuddering breath leaves her lips, her body going still as something deep inside her shifts: a quiet, desperate resolve hardening behind her tear–soaked lashes.

“Alright,” Knox growls, stepping into position. He rubs his palms together, running a hand through his greasy hair. “We record this and I send it straight to Locke’s phone. He’s going to watch this in front of your father, in front of your brother, in front of every patched member of the Grinning Skulls.”

He leans over the phone, his finger hovering over the red record icon.

“I’m going to tell him he and the club have two hours,” Knox says. “Two hours to drop three million in non–sequential bills at the timber yard. If he hesitates, if he’s late, if he calls the cops…”

He grins down at me, his eyes gleaming with dark, hollow victory.

“I start sending him pieces of his little slut. Starting with your fucking eyes.”

Willow whimpers, her small frame curling tighter into the shadows. One of the hired guards turns, swinging his heavy boot and kicking her sharply in the ribs.

He touches the glass. The small red light on the corner of the phone flickers to life, recording the image of Try hattered face.

Knox operis his mouth to speak, drawing in air to deliver his grand, triumphant ultimatum –

BOOM.

The sound doesn’t just ring through the warehouse; it shatters the atmosphere.

A deafening, catastrophic structural crash explodes from the far end of the building as the heavy steel loading doors are violently breached with what looks and sounds like a Mac truck.

“What the fuck?” one of the guards screams, his voice cracking into sheer terror as he draws his sidearm, dropping into a frantic defensive crouch.

Becca lets out a high–pitched, hysterical shriek, throwing her hands over her ears and stumbling backward into the dark stacked pallets. Knox jolts as if hit by lightning, his phone smashing to the ground as he stumbles back, his hand wildly fumbling under his leather jacket for his gun, his face instantly draining of every drop of color.

A thick, suffocating cloud of dust, rusted iron splinters, and black exhaust fumes rolls violently into the warehouse from the shattered threshold.

In the dark corner, Willow screams, ducking her head into her arms as debris rains down from the ceiling.

I don’t duck. I don’t flinch.

Instead, I rejoice.

Locke’s here, my mind roars through the deafening ringing in my ears. Somehow Locke found me.
