Chapter 242-2
“Bragging about what?” I ask.
“He told Velvet that he’s back in the big leagues now. Said he joined up with a ‘real crew‘…
something that’s gonna make the Grinning Skulls look like a bunch of soft old–timers.”
My heart does a sudden, heavy thud against my ribs. “A new crew?”
“It ain’t just Jaws, either,” Sly says, his missing front tooth showing as he grimaces. “I’ve been working the alleyways behind the docks all week. I’m seeing guys surface that haven’t been seen in three years. Complete trash, Miss Zara. Pure, unfiltered garbage that got spit out by every legitimate club in three states.”
“Like who?” Jade demands, her notebook out in an instant.
“For starters, Razor McGee,” Sly says. “He got stripped of his patch by the Iron Skeletons two years ago for selling meth out of his trunk to underage kids in Utah. Then there’s Mad Dog Fielding, a prospect who got beaten up by the Copperheads when he left his road captain in a bar fight. And Snake–Eyes Channing – a f*****g psycho who got kicked out of his charter after beating a prospect half to death with an lead pipe.”
Kat nods grimly, taking over. “Don’t forget the twins, Twitch and Grinder Bennett. They were living in squalor under the canal bridges, strung out and broke. All of a sudden, they’re clean–shaven, flush with cash, and carrying military–grade sidearms.”
“What the hell?” I say softly.
“Someone is actively recruiting the absolute worst scum from every gutter, buying up every rejected, violent washout who has a grudge against an established club.” Kat shakes her head. “It’s bad f*****g news, Miss Zara.”
“They’re gathering down at the old rail yard near the canal zone,” Flea adds. “They’re calling themselves a new charter, but they aren’t riding iron out in the open yet.”
Willow gasps softly, clutching a dish towel to her chest. “Who would assemble a group poisonous men like that?”
of
“Someone with endless money and zero morals,” I say, my mind racing. “Someone who needs a mercenary army built out of street trash.”

Jade leans closer to Kat. “Who’s pulling the strings, Kat? Is it Vane? Is he using his corporate
payroll to buy a shadow gang so he doesn’t have to burn his own security team, now that the
Night Howlers are wiped out?”
Kat shakes her head, her sharp face tight with frustration. “That’s the weird part, Jade. It’s not
a suit giving the orders down at the rail yard.”
“No?”
“Nuh–uh,” Sly says. “Everyone’s talking about a new boss. Someone who speaks the language of the road, someone who knows club politics, patch protocols, and supply routes inside and
out.”
A heavy, suffocating silence falls over the bar.
“Nobody knows who it is,” Flea says quietly. “The heavy hitters are keeping the boss tucked away in a blacked–out SUV, giving orders through earpieces and written burn–notes. But whoever it is… they hate the Skulls, and I mean deeply. It’s personal for them.”

“A meat grinder, for damn sure,” Jade mutters. “They let our boys breach, wait until everyone is engaged inside, and then close the trap from behind. No uniforms, no corporate logos… just an anonymous, bloodthirsty ambush where nobody knows who threw the first grenade.”
My father steps out first, his face set in a grim, terrifying mask of dark calculation. Behind
